It shouldn't be surprising at all.
The Fair Tax hucksters have far more financial backing to develop their propaganda than the Shamwow guy.
But it's all an abominable distortion of tax theory that's advocated by the very same financial swindlers who use our National Treasury as their personal piggy bank.

I use the misnamed "Fair Tax" as a litmus test.
If a candidate supports that thing, I know for certain that he/she can't be trusted on any other issue either.

That's a pretty sweeping diatribe, but without any specifics. Have you read the book? What specifically don't you like about it vs. our current mess-of-a-tax-code? Do you know (libertarian radio talk-host) Neal Boortz, who's an ardent supporter. Or Republican Congressman John Linder, who's a co-author?

No tax system is completely without fault but, after studying the "Fair-Tax", I believe it's vastly superior to what we have today.

Flat tax is the way to go

The Fair Tax is a flat tax but on income instead of production. A tax on income is one of the planks in Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto. Communists espouse any tax on income, including a flat tax, because they realize over time they can increase the tax burden on productivity thereby eventually discouraging people from producing/working. The only alternative at that point is to turn to the state for subsistence. That ignores the fact we have already tried a flat tax on income and it has been a miserable failure. It's the federal income tax code. People were taxed 1% on the first $20,000 and 7% on income over $500,000 when the 16th Amendment was passed in 1913. It was essentially a flat tax on income since so few earned more than $500,000 in 1913. It has evolved into the multi tiered increasingly intrusive and oppressive tax code we have today. Any flat tax on income will morph into the same convoluted mess we have today only faster thanks to the thousands of lobbyists in D.C. that didn't exist in 1913.

On the contrary, they love the current tax code that creates a strong centralized form of government espoused by Marx and Communists today. The Fair Tax threatens their agenda as it will decentralize government by empowering individuals to decide when and how often they are taxed.

Huh? Please cite specific credible evidence supporting your otherwise empty claim. You obviously have no idea the difficulties Americans For Fair Taxation have had in the past raising enough donations to support passing The Fair Tax Act. The Fair Tax has survived during times of low funding due to its merits.

But it's all an abominable distortion of tax theory that's advocated by the very same financial swindlers who use our National Treasury as their personal piggy bank.

The corporate lobbyists have an army of shills on the Internet waiting to hijack and derail any legitimate discussion of tax reform that ordinary citizens may wish to have. The objective of these transnational corporations is to operate in a global, tax-free environment while saddling the population with cradle-to-grave welfare to make it "fair". And that's exactly what the misnamed "fair tax" does with it's "prebate" checks. Abolish the IRS and everybody gets monthly Social Security checks to "rebate" the sales tax.
What an abomination. Maybe the liberals will be tempted to go down that path to economic slavery, but true conservatives should see right through this scam and tar & feather any sockpuppet politician who endorses it.

The authors cite government and independent studies by several noted economists that estimate that embedded taxes in our current tax system — that is, taxes paid by manufacturers, retailers and other providers of goods and services and passed on to the end consumer — raise the price of goods and services by about 22 percent.

I'd like to see the "math" behind these studies.

Once all federal taxes, including the income tax and Social Security and Medicare taxes, are eliminated, these prices should decrease under competitive market conditions, in an amount that would virtually offset the “fair” tax.

Prices remain the same, my taxes drop to zero and I get a prebate every month. Sounds like Obama math.

Jim Trafficant was indeed a cosponsor of the FairTax but was NEVER ever the primary sponsor! That person is and alwasys has been John Linder of Georgia.
