“What about socialization?”
We’re not raising socialists.
There are no *real* public schools to put kids in anymore, so your fantasy scenario wouldn't exist.
Better luck next time.
They held a conference last year in someone's closet.
JUST KIDDING!
I’ve gotten nearly everything on this list, but not from friends. It’s either family or complete strangers.
I'd guess that's one of the questions I get most myself.
I've had other kids ask me if I gave my kids A's because I felt sorry for them.
My own complaint: please dont brag about how fantastic your kids school is, how wonderful the teachers are, and how your child is doing so great.

Yep! If attending government schools they are essential doing a great job in their FULL-TIME job of learning how to evaluate everything in their life from a godless point a view.
Just Great! ( sad)
Because of our business what other people do with their kids?
We homeschooled. People don’t understand it, and they feel guilty that they are not doing it. I just answered their questions, always saying, as well — “There are pluses and minuses, just as there are in any decision.” I never felt people were doing it from hostility. Answering questions, tho, is a great way to get the word out about how great it is.

Most of these types of comments come from parents who drop their children off with disinterested strangers all day.
Also, most are well aware of how low public education has sunk, and how home-schooled kids excel, so it stands to reason that guilt and jealosy cause them to make comments such as these.
Er, that should be ‘because it’s none of our business’.

Sorry for the mistake. We just got a new trackball mouse and I'm having devil of a time getting used to it.
I think but don't often say, “Gee! That's too bad. Are you too stupid, too emotionally unbalance, too dysfunctional, too poor, too sick, too out-of-control, too lazy, to materialistic, too self-absorbed, too selfish, divorced, widowed,..etc. So?....Just exactly what is so wrong with you life that you can't homeschool?
I think that you've nailed it. Probably more guilt than anything.
Golly gee, my kids went to public schools and did not end up
being either illiterates of faggots. Don't let that stop you, though.
Tell us all how ALL public school kids are degenerates and how your little darlings are not.
(Due, no doubt, to your inherent superiority.)
The entire purpose of a political message board is to push forward (sometimes aggressively) unique ways of thinking about things.
Just as I am careful to hold my tongue about what I am thinking ( when face to face with someone), I expect that those who are institutionalize their children are careful about what they say as well.
It is called being socially polite....A concept that I taught my homeschooled children.
Please read post #37.
If frank political discussion is uncomfortable to some, I suggest that they don’t participate in political message boards.
IMO, materialism is the number one motivator for parents who would homeschool but don't.
They are either are living too far above their means for only one parent to work, or they're cherish a certain lifestyle too much to make the necessary sacrifces to home school.
What I've encountered is that many are naturally drawn to home schooling, but eventually fall back on one excuse or another (most often the "socialization" myth) as their contrived reason for not doing it. The reality is usually that they either won't or can't do it for lifestyle reasons.
Some homeschoolers (like this writer) seem to have too much time on their hands.... :-)
