Palin to make announcement from Wasilla at 3 [will not seek re-election]
Politico ^ | July 3, 2009 | Ben Smith

Posted on 07/03/2009 11:40:27 AM PDT by Al B.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will make what her office is only calling an "announcement" at 11 AM local (3 Eastern) from her home in Wasilla.

Speculation is raging both in Alaska and in the Lower 48 that she'll reveal her plans regarding next year's gubernatorial race.

So much for today being a slow news day.

Yikes everyone lost the feed. Is she fed up and simply resigning?

I just recieved this note!

Via Ann Coulter: Lady Thatcher said Palin has it all—huge fan. However, she needs to learn to speak in a more formal manner as did Thatcher

If Thatcher gives a thumbs up she is the Iron lady of our time! Run, Sarah, Run!

If I had a tin-foil hat, I’d don it.

This was her first campaign speech and the feed is dropped.

Kristol believes she is going to study hard and believes her statement was the opening statement for her 2012 run. Admittedly it’s a huge gamble but he believes she’s going to go for it.

I missed it. I tuned to the other channels hoping to get the rest of the speech and was treated to CNN ragging on her.

Steve Laser, the rabid Romney bot, on FOX running her down. He must have nearly broken his neck to get to FOXNEWS.

I gather Chris Wallace was uttering wishful thinking when predicting she was leaving politics altogether. From the litany of accomplishments she’s now citing, I suspect I may have been right believing she’s getting ready to run in 2012. Media will have a field day but she’s equipped to handle it better than most.

Chirs Wallace really showed his true colors this afternoon, huh? He's no Palin fan (unlike Greta!). Geesh, now all the talking heads on FNC are saying Sarah's speech was "rambling and defensive". Candy Crowley and Julianne Malveaux on CNN seemed amazed that Sarah "seemed to be speaking off the top of her head... not using a teleprompter".

I hope this is a good thing, but stepping down short of finishing her term is very odd to me... very risky. Despite my silly tagline, I tend to agree with Krauthammer that Sarah needs to "study up" on world affairs before she is a serious contender for the White House. I really want to support her in 2012 though...

Stupid Fox News was late to the party, then cut her speech off. I'm hoping to watch the entire thing again if it's posted on YouTube.

Oh, and right in the middle of the Sarah coverage, my cable system just HAD to do two "emergency broadcast tests". In all my years living here, I've NEVER seen one of those things done in the middle of the day... they are almost all done around 1AM...

Well, this gives me hope. I think she is getting ready for a run in 2012. She will get away from all the ethics complaints and, as she says, it will be better for Alaska because the Lt. Governor won’t have to put up with that sh** and can run the State. However, I now think her real reason, at least I am hoping against hope, is because she is going to bone up and kick tail in 2012.

Lovely. It doesn’t say much for FOX that they had him on there immediately after the speech.

I nodded when hearing Krauthammer say it and I suspect that is what she plans to do. By resigning, she's giving herself all the time she needs to get her ducks in order (especially if she may be running against Hillary). However the fact she's leaving her post prematurely will only give the left more fodder to use against her -- disregarding the fact that she's leaving a successful admin. thanks to her efforts.

No need for Alaskans to continue to pay to fight the smear from the national DUmocrats. They are better served by continuing her agenda under the Lt. Governor, and her moving into the national spotlight and take on the RINOs within the McCain campaign who’ve been her biggest detractors.

Alaskans were prepared to lose her to be VP to help the country.

To me , the true Alaskans will hear her, and know that she is getting out of their way to allow the state to succeed.

She can do more for them /us outside than remaining inside and being attacked.

Go Sarah. We are with you.
