GOVERNOR PALIN ANNOUNCES NO SECOND TERM, NO LAME DUCK SESSION EITHER
State of Alaska Governor's Office ^ | 3 July 2009 | State of Alaska Governor's Office

GOVERNOR PALIN ANNOUNCES NO SECOND TERM NO LAME DUCK SESSION EITHER July 3, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin announced today that she will not seek a second term as Governor of the State of Alaska and will relegate the power of governor to Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell in order to serve Alaska’s best interests. Lieutenant General Craig Campbell will move into Parnell’s current role.

“People who know me know that besides faith and family, nothing's more important to me than our beloved Alaska,” said Governor Palin. “Serving her people is the greatest honor I could imagine.” Standing outside her home in Wasilla, Alaska, Governor Palin reflected upon some of the administration’s accomplishments for Alaska as she approaches her final year in office. “I am determined to take the right path for Alaska even though it is not the easiest path,” said Governor Palin after the announcement. “Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional ‘Lame Duck’ status in this particular climate would just be another dose of ‘politics as usual,’ something I campaigned against and will always oppose. It is my duty to always protect our great state. With that in mind, my family and I determined that it is best to make a difference this summer, and I am willing to change things, so that this administration, with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future, can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success. I look forward to helping others – to fight for our state and our country, and campaign for those who believe in smaller government, free enterprise, strong national security, support for our troops, and energy independence.” The transfer of power will occur following the Governor’s picnic in Fairbanks on July 26. At that point in time, Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell will be sworn in and Lieutenant General Craig Campbell will assume his role as Lieutenant Governor. Governor Palin will spend July 4th in Juneau.

"In 4 years she will be leading the free world."

Amen! It is not the same country we had even 4 years ago. Things have changed, drastically. So must ones actions.

It may have been "suicide" to do such a thing....in another lifetime, but we are dealing w/ another lifetime now.

God Bless Sarah.

“I liked SP until she made such a poor showing in that Katie Couric interview”

You’ve got to understand something about that. The Katie Couric interview was edited, broken apart and pieced back together, in order to make Sarah look like an idiot. What was shown and what she actually said are completely different things.

You need to watch the “Media Malpractice” documentary.

She has just improved, significantly, the probability of retaking the house and eliminating the 60-vote hangman's noose in the senate.

Bingo! These idiots in the MSM should NOT be celebrating and gloating. Sarah Palin's political clout and influence has now truly begun!

She's running. They really went after Bush for not "being present" as Texas' Governor while he was running for the White House in his last term, imagine what they would do to her.

I think she is ready to bring on the heat and wants to keep Alaska out of the field of fire.

The national polls show a tentative swing back to conservatism and the leadership role is empty. This is the perfect time for someone like her to step into that position.

All other considerations aside, the fact that this woman — not wealthy, not an Ivy Leager, not a Washington Insider — was forced into half a million dollars of personal debt to defend her own integrity against the same wealthy, Ivy League, Washington Insider POWER PEOPLE who hated her, and they accused her of “Ethics violations” WITH TAXPAYER MONEY. DISGUSTING!
If Sarah Palin can’t serve as a Governor without being impoverished and so tied up with red tape and political vendettas at the behest of other politicians, then NO common sense, NORMAL people can. And if that’s the case, there will be NO “reform” of the American political system from within....

My guess: Our country is going down the tubes, and she is going out to save it before it is too late.

Someone has got to take the lead.

I can’t save this country as one individual. For the last two days, I was seriously thinking of throwing in the towel and walking way. I can no longer handle sleepless nights.

She will still have a platform and she’ll be able to travel the lower 48, but quitting the governorship will confirm most peoples’ doubts that she is too inexperienced to run for president.

We have a community organizer as president. How is she not experienced enough now?

“Varney just had some a$$ on insisting this made Romney the defacto republican candidate for president.”

When Sarah speaks...the presses stop. When Romney speaks nobody notices.

She copped an attitude with katie....seeing she was such a snob and asshole and condesending, and allowed her emotions to get in the way, and so just played with katie.....she saw how it was used against her, admitted it and has not done the same thing again...

Unfortunately, by 2012, that “community organizer” will have had four years’ experience in the highest office in the land and trying to make that argument will seem silly.

I’ve always said that I don’t trust anybody for President who acts like they want the job.

Wanting to serve is different than “wanting the job.” I think Palin wants to serve the country, not rule it. We could use a bit more of that spirit—from Palin or from others.

That is what leaders do! If Sarah Palin succeeds in helping other candidates win in 2010, her prospects in 2012 will be greatly enhanced.

“Having no pulpit and being in Alaska is not a good thing politically IMO.”

She has one, she carries it with her. This is great news.
