Sarah Palin finished in Alaska, but DC?
The Chicago Tribune ^ | July 3, 2009 | Mark Silva

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is stepping down, announcing suddenly today that will she pursue other means of having an impact in the public arena, fueling speculation about her intentions for another bid for national office.

Palin will step down before her first term is finished, resigning as of July 26 -- while not offering a clear reason for her withdrawal. Having decided not to seek a second term, she said she did not want to remain as a "lame duck'' simply wasting taxpayer money with trade missions and the like.

"I know when it's time to pass the ball,'' said Palin, almost tearfully announcing that she would hand the office over to the lieutenant governor. "All I ask is that you trust me with this decision,'' she said, allowing that it's "no more politics as usual...

"Some are going to question the timing of this,'' she said.in an impromptu news conference at her home. "This decision has been in the works for a while.''

Standing with her husband and children at their lakeside home in Wasilla, their seaplane docked behind them, she said that a recent visit to wounded soldiers overseas had helped her make the decision. "We can all learn from our selfless troops,'' she said.

"We've got to put first things first.... I'm doing what's best for Alaska,'' she said, citing a family refrigerator magnet that suggests not trying to explain anything because critics won't believe it anyway.

The Republican former mayor of Wasilla and self-styled "hockey mom'' and political "pitbull" remains popular among the most conservative base of the party that nominated her for vice president in 2008. She carries high negative ratings among the general public, however, according to the latest polls, questioning the role she might play in another party ticket for 2012.

You mean the objective, lacking of agenda, selfless presstitutes deserving of the utmost of respect in everything conveyed by them? /s

Presstitutes are nothing but prostitutes making a living with a pencil and paper and so far left on the political scale that reality doesn't exist for them.

The Dems and lawyers according to Palin has forced her family to amass a 500k debt.
She can't afford to be financially destroyed while in office.
If she stayed another two years as I see it would cost her personal wealth a negative 3 million.

Better to use what happened in a national run, work the speaking tours for a couple of years to make money and clear debt and move on.

I would like her to become a senator first and then run for the presidency later. She’s too good to lose.

Whatever the outcome, the crowing over her being a “quitter” from the Dims and their allies in the Country Club Northeastern Republican set is already vomit inducing. Politics is repulsive.

I agree that her family was being put through an insane personal and financial wringer.

I only wish that she had first tried to mount a serious legal defense fund, and book advance. Of course, even those moves would be harassed - and indeed, we've seen how the Clintons (spit) have horribly abused these legitimate tools of defense.

I just think she lost about half of her 7/2/09 national supporter base, and made it impossible to win national office, since she didn't complete the job she signed up for. And this is horrible.

DRAFT BARBOUR 2012!

She will now be able to go on the road throughout the country in 2010 campaigning full time on behalf of Rep candidates, building up her political IOUs when she goes for the Presidency in 2012. Essentially, she is constructing her national political organization.

FReepers maligning Palin for not completing her term in office, consider this:

I too (when I first heard the news at work), was in shock and dismay when I learned that she will be resigning, and I even penned a vanity post explaining the scenarios of what Palin must do.

But the more I thought about it, the more it makes sense. Folks, Palin realizes that this is her destiny here. She sees her country crumbling before her very eyes, and what better move than to start planning NOW. She takes away an issue from the Dems and media, she no longer has to worry about her gubernatorial duties. Do you realize that presidential elections are being planned NOW, even after a mere six months of Obama being nominated?

I truly believe that Christ has chosen Palin to be our savior for a historic battle in 2012.

They get their perfect liberal, we get 1/2 or 1/3 of a conservative as a candidate and meanwhile our once great country goes the way of Sweden.

Why? What would she accomplish by being a Senator?
