History of America's Education Part1: Johnny is in trouble
The Sierra Times ^ | 2002 | April Shenandoah

As a result of decreasing literary skills, college textbooks are being rewritten at a lower grade level so that the students can understand them. Most newspapers and magazines are written at about a sixth grade level which is now the reading level of the average American (of which I'm one). If you aren't buying this - compare the literacy level of today with early America, read the Federalist Papers, which were written for farmers and other common citizens in New York. Today's college graduates find them difficult.

Students get a dumbed down education by design so that they will grow up to be loyal Democrat voters.

concentrate on the three Rs

If someone learns the 3 Rs then they can teach themselves the rest of what they need. That's why they work.

Teaching a bunch of mushy junk to kids is a waste of time and brainpower and you end up with unhappy, useless children. THAT is what kills their "self-esteem." That's why the current schools are failing.

I started out in CA. I took the CBEST and was also amazed at the number of people waiting for the test to start who kept saying that they had taken the test before and really hoped they’d pass this time. The CBEST was soooo easy.

I took many other tests in CA to get my teaching license, and they were all really easy. I heard time and time again about how hard they were.

Only because they are a large minoroty. Educated blacks realize this sham as well as whites do. They were just useful because of their political leanings and convenience.

I contend that the entire concept of “public education” has no place in a free nation.

“History of America’s Education Part1: Johnny is in trouble”

And the liberals are in charge. Coincidence? The liberal perspective is incompatible with analytical thought. Dumbing people down is necessary.

Two weeks ago, my small town’s newspaper published a short letter to the editor it had received from a local first grade teacher, who is also the president of the county association of educators. The letter had numerous spelling and grammar, including punctuation and capitalization, errors. It was basically incomprehensible as the author did not even use complete sentences.
Since it’s publication, there have been four letters of protest in the paper. Parents should be marching on the school board.

Questions about this were in a recent Zogby poll. I gave the schools a flunking score.

Well, nothing else is going to be solved until we really deal with this issue. It is insidious and pure evil. They are doing it purposefully.
