It's Getting Cold Out There (global warming religion)
Jewish World Review ^ | July 13, 2009 | Debra J. Saunders

No wonder skeptics consider the left's belief in man-made global warming as akin to a fad religion — last week in Italy, G8 leaders pledged to not allow the Earth's temperature to rise more than 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit.

For its next act, the G8 can part the Red Sea. The worst part is: These are the brainy swells who think of themselves as — all bow — Men of Science.

The funny part is: G8 leaders can't even decide the year from which emissions must be reduced. 1990? 2005? "This question is a mystery for everyone," an aide to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said.

And while President Obama led the charge for the G8 nations to agree to an 80 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in industrial nations by 2050, the same Russian aide dissed the standard as "likely unattainable."

No worries, the language was non-binding. Global-warming believers say that they are all about science, but their emphasis is not on results so much as declarations of belief.

Faith. Mystery. Promises to engage in pious acts. Global warming is a religion. While Obama was in Italy preaching big cuts in U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, he was losing some of his flock in Washington. The House may have passed the 1,200-page cap-and-trade bill largely unread, but Senate Democrats are combing the fine print and not liking what they see. As Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., said of the bill, "We need to be a leader in the world but we don't want to be a sucker."

Republicans who oppose the legislation are positively gleeful. For some issues, it can be more fun being part of the opposition, as Democrats are discovering.

VERY TRUE

I live in a small working class area, small house, I have nothing fancy and yet these elitists who live in their mcmansions want to tell my family how to live, what we should do and say.

Yesterday we were out in Jacksonville zoo and my wife and I were walking around when she remembered a segment on the news about building jungle gyms and how it will stimulate the economy and help with health care.

We looked around and said to each other.
“do the left really think that building a jungle gym in a place will help those over there feeding themselves with hotdogs and pizza, do they seriously think that my tax money is going to great use by building a jungle gym in their community”

The left likes to dictate and when someone stands up and says no they come after you, they call you radical, extreme, etc.

it is a ploy , yes but sometimes I wonder if they do this because they are in a small circle, not in the real world and so when they see something out of their circle they are shocked.

I have a crude name for these little echo chambers in which the left/elitists talk to one another:
“Left handed circlejerks”

I’m sure you’ll get a response like “the drop is actually an indicator of global warming” or some such

That's sort of like saying pregnancy in an indicator of virginity.

Parts of NJ had overnight frost right around June 1st. I think it was the first time in recorded history that we had frost in June.

The "snow" you are referring to might be in reference to the 3 inches of hail that fell one afternoon up along the NY/NJ state line.

It's been a bizarre year for weather.

if you don;t mind I would like to use that as it is very appropriate.

I hate it when these Rich upper class elitist liberals tell me in a working class area that they are for us, that we should be grateful for them and that they are helping us.

news to them ,we need no help , we live our lives as we do and within our means.

My kids get A’s and honor rolls, our house is paid off so maybe next time they should look at themselves living in their mc mansion using all that energy

No Global warming for us.

Massachusetts ran 9.3º below normal in June.

It remains in the 60ºs and low 70ºs in July.

Last July we had 18 days over 90.

I like 60s and 70s.

48 degrees in Southern Michigan when I got up this morning.

Before global warming, it used to be warm in the middle of July.

The dumbasses liberals in their so-called wisdom are blind to see the benefits of their alleged 'global warming'.

In warm weather the crops grows faster & stronger than cold weather and there was a time when the earth was so warm that GREENLAND (y'know that place very far up north) actually had forests and there was no worldwide flooding!!

So in their unrelenting drive to 'cool the earth' they may end up with a planet that produces very little crops to feed the world and we have a worldwide population of a mere 800 million vs 7.5 billion now. But then again isnt that the stated agenda of those enviro-wackos? Howbeit there will be no one to create & serve all those luxuries that they have become so used to.

You would even those on the left would actually know that passing this in this climate would be bad.

I cannot even imagine if this passes and I open my bill one morning.
