Republicans: Put a stake through the heart of the birther movement now (the Flop Sweat intensifies)
Mlive ^ | 7/24/09 | Susan Dumass

Posted on 07/24/2009 8:11:57 PM PDT by pissant

n case you don't watch cable news (an excellent idea), you might have missed the explosion of stories on the birthers, those folks who are determined that Barack Obama can't be president because there's a massive commie conspiracy involving his birth certificate. Somehow very respected conservatives have decided to throw in their lot with them.

These people are nuts. If Republicans want to be a national party and not a repository for wingnut conspiracy theorists angry about everything, they will loudly denounce the birthers and move on. Say, with actual health care, climate change and economic proposals.

Here's a quick roundup of the insanity. Feel free to post more in ye olde comments (which also tends to be a repository for wingnuts):

Poor U.S. Rep. Mike Castle (R-Del.), who would make a great senator.

There is an actual birther bill in Congress with something like 10 sponsors.

Liz Cheney stokes the flames.

Convicted felon G. Gordon Liddy is somehow still treated with credibility.

Let's overthrow the government because our guy lost.

Count the alleged Holocaust Museum killer as a member.

Fox News gives them credibility.

Lou Dobbs dons his best tin-foil hat.

Even Wikipedia is against them. (They're all against you).

Thank God for Jon Stewart.

Then I’d advise you not to worry about it.

This rant will only fuel the fires of the rumor. Lets get some facts rather than toss insults and the ever present race card. Lets look over all the facts with the eye of Common Seance .
Lets look at that Live Birth certificate—real or bogus?
How hard is it to get one back then?
Lets look at the writings of Obama about his birth.
Lets examine the newspaper clippings we have. Are they real or tampered with? What do they really say? Could Obama’s Mama have used them for welfare
purposes?
What do they say in Kenya? Could he have been born there or in London? What about his school records? What about his hospital records? This thing should be easy to put to bed.
Do it now before ACORN puts a fake BC in the records.

You said — There are far greater threats that the Obama presidency is doing to America than to worry about this. They are about to create a welfare monstrosity out of health care that cannot be unwound, they are taking over the major industries and defining national levels of compensation, they have begun a cannibalistic class war promising the rich will pay for all things and promising no tax accountability for 50% of the country, they have put a psycho “national sterilizer” in as the science CZAR, they are installing a wise latina racist supremacist as a Justice of the Supreme Court that blatantly and proudly discriminates against white males, they are passing a trillion dollar cap and trade debacle that will makes slaves of us, they are promoting the idea that we should pay for China and India’s CO2 emissions, they are apologizing for imagined US crimes like global warming, they have taken bribe money from convicted felons like Tony Reszko, they want our tax dollars to cover people’s elective contraceptive abortions and the list goes on and on.

There are far worse things that must be attacked because they will be impossible to undo.

True, what you bring up is what I call a “rational response” to what is going on. It’s what reasonable people (i.e., us conservatives) are really concerned about.

Unfortunately there is also another segment that has gone *insane* and off the deep end (I think because of their shock of Obama getting elected, which was quite a shock...).

An example of the insanity that does exist is the characteristics that I’ve posted about “Obama Derangement Syndrome” (which is evident with certain posters...)...

Well, there is a certain segment (small and loud... LOL...) who qualifies under the designation of “Obama Derangement Syndrome”... which is different than getting a birth certificate... :-)

One can be a true conservative and ask for the birth certificate, but also realize that there is no legal requirement to produce one.

The conservatives who don’t realize this have a tendency to slide into insanity and go off on the deep end. Something below from another thread...

You know... every time this subject comes up about the birth certificate, I’ve seen these characteristics that identify those of the “Obama Derangement Syndrome”....

No... it’s a *real syndrome* all right. And there are folks who have it. The only thing I can figure out is that some people “went insane” after Obama was elected and this was how they decided to “cope” with the changed world they were in.

As for myself, I was shocked. What can I say? I mean it was really depressing that Obama was elected — but fortunately — I did not descend into the Obama Derangement Syndrome, but rather, started working with my state legislature to pass legislation to require any candidate produce a birth certificate if they were running for office, or else they cannot be on the ballot.

What can I say? Some people “went insane” and some people “got down to productive work” — in regards to Obama, in order to do something in the “real world”....

Here are some of the characteristics of Obama Derangement Syndrome, that I’ve seen and compiled from interviewing various insane people.... :-)

I’ll outline a few so you can see what I’ve defined as that...

(1) A military coup because Obama is not qualified and the military forces his resignation (there are variations on that but they all center on a military coup, forcing Obama out of office by the military people).

(2) Obama is not President right now... (a real detachment from reality).

(3) Obama can be removed from office as President right now by a judge ordering a U.S. Marshal to walk into the Oval Office and arrest Obama and remove him from the White House.

(4) The reason why Obama has not been removed from office thus far and the courts have not removed him is because there is a widespread conspiracy, fear, or collusion or whatever other reason supplied for the conspiracy. “Everyone” is involved in the conspiracy and thus Obama can’t be removed. (can be variations on this but it’s all about a general and widespread conspiracy as to why Obama is still in office).

(5) The idea that Obama must present his birth certificate, even though there is no legal requirement to do so, and even though no other candidates have ever been compelled, legally, to produce their birth certificate, and that if Obama doesn’t produce his birth certificate, then he is not qualified.

(6) The rejection of simple, real-world solutions to this birth certificate problem (like getting an ordinary state law requiring the showing of a birth certificate), and instead, insisting on “solutions” that don’t work in the real world and/or “solutions” that have not worked in all this time.

Bring on the BC, all college records, etc. BeeO must prove to TRUE natural born Americans you are eligible to serve as President otherwise resign or the US Marshals need to arrest you punk.

As you wrote, “Her name can’t really be Susan Dumass???”
You are right, it is spelled Demas.

I’m thinking that it has to be Dumas. No one would go through life with such a demeaning name as Dumass.
Although Dumass is not her real name it is her nickname, and it fits.

These people are nuts.

A small group continued pursuing the Clinton's Whitewater dealings for years and I can't see how that hurt the party. The party followed Clinton with six of its strongest years ever.

As long as Obama refuses to release his original certificate (which two state officials profess they do have), this won't die. And the more Obama discredits himself as he's done this week, the more who will wonder about his motives in the BC matter.

A small group continuing with this story won't hurt the part. No need for such hysterics.

Yeppir, I remember how the Dims tried to stop the 9/11 conspiracy people, the people who claimed that Bush sabotaged the dams after Katrina, the people who claimed he stole the 2000 election, and how even now, they're trying to stop the endless stream of ethics complaints against Sarah Palin.

I hope there are six dozen more of these types of controversies that spring up around Zero.

The birth certificate is a red herring. Natural born citizen means someone who is a citizen and was never naturalized. BO is a citizen because his mother was a citizen. So it doesn’t matter where he was born.
