I predict the future will see home-cooking outlawed.

Every meal will occur in a government canteen, either at school, in the local tractor factory, or in the neighborhood party HQ.

A real-ID system will be used to calculate the portion needed for each “citizen”.

This is all after mandatory morning-time calisthenics.

They've succeeded in getting society to hate and punish the smokers.

Now that they're flush with that victory, they've gone on to the obese.

“In 2003-2004, 17.1% of US children and adolescents were overweight and 32.2% of adults were obese”

So, one third of us are getting a tax increase I guess. If they need more money they move the numbers of what they will consider obese, just like the number they us to formulate the definition of “rich”.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

If everyone were paying for his own decisions - instead of distributing/socializing the cost - this “cost of obesity” would be of concern only to the obese.

A nationalized health care system means there is no aspect of our lives that is except from federal regulation, no matter how personal or intimate. If the federal government is paying for our healthcare, than anything that can be linked to health care costs becomes the government’s business.

I fully expect that overweight people will be increasingly villified in the years and decades to come, much the same way smokers have been increasingly ostracized over the past few decades.

They need to make obesity surgery available thru all insurance plans. I had to pay for my own and almost 4 years out am still maintaining a size 8 :) down from a size 24. I had a Duodenal Switch/BPD and it was the best thing I’ve ever done! My last blood pressure was 95/55 at the Dr.’s office.

So of course, they will have to regulate what we eat—and how much of it—to “save costs.”

I hope they start with David Axelrod, who looks like an obese Cosmo Spacely

Nope, most obese people are poor. I was just pointing out how they will define obese like they do rich, the number will move according to their taxing needs.

The smokers tried to warn this would happen but many of those who hate smokers supported the effort to force them outside, etc.

Nanny-state ping — priming the pump for further regulations/bans of what people eat. Everyone who supported federal government bans on what we put in our bodies — nicotine, other drugs, etc. — this is the logical and inevitable next step.

In Britain social services are allowed to take the children away from the parents if they are obese, claiming that is child abuse.

No one is for obesity...but isn’t that a marvy way to cure obesity?
