Why Palin Fans Feel Betrayed
Pajamas Media ^ | July 31 | John Hawkins

Posted on 07/31/2009 9:23:39 AM PDT by AJKauf

along came Sarah Palin, whom most conservatives viewed as the lone bright spot of the 2008 campaign. Here’s a woman that many conservatives identify with not only because they believe she really shares their values, but because she is genuinely what so many other politicians pretend to be. She’s a person who got where she is based on merit and she found success without the advantage of being born in the right family, being wealthy, or being given a break because she went to an Ivy League school.

Given the excitement Sarah Palin has generated it isn’t a surprise that liberals hate her, but the amount of venom that has been sent her way is astounding. Even the normal double standard for Democratic and Republican politicians was completely thrown out the window when it came to Sarah Palin during the 2008 campaign. Grotesque attacks on her family, blatantly sexist insults, and a performance standard that was several levels above and beyond what anyone else in politics was supposed to adhere to was applied to her.

Even after the GOP lost the election, the all-out assault on Sarah Palin and her family continued. Why attack a mere governor of Alaska as opposed to Mitch McConnell, John Cornyn, John Boehner, Mitt Romney, or Mike Huckabee? Because Palin managed to generate more enthusiasm amongst conservatives than all of those people combined. Liberals correctly identified Sarah Palin as the biggest danger to them in the entire Republican Party and they’re doing everything they can to eliminate that threat...

Another Palin hit piece.

It's not a hit piece. It's actually a VERY Palin-positive piece, and a well done one at that. If you read the article, it's about why and how the GOP elite are as busy tearing down Palin as the Dims are. I like the conclusion of the article too:

"There’s only one Sarah Palin and there’s not another soul on the national stage who can even come close to filling her high heels. At a time when the Republican Party has lost so many seats in Congress that it’s teetering on the brink of irrelevancy, Palin’s detractors on the right should ask themselves how much sense it makes to help the liberal media try to tear down the biggest star in the conservative movement.

It is the medias and journalists, TV programs(Letterman, Mahr, and most all of the news channels/stations); that have attacked her mercilessly and then only by twisting facts,

Those that believe the enemy propaganda ( continually in the forefront of the news), ... are the ones betraying conservative/Republicans.

DO NOT BELIEVE IT ... DO NOT BUY IT ... If we do we are killing ourselves; and our chances for making a recovery or restoration of our freedoms and liberty.

Let us not watch ... while our nation perishes.

“But giving money to a Legal Defense fund is an ethics violation /sarc....”

LOL!

Sarah Palin is an ethical person. I give her that but I still say her supporters don't help her financially in ANY way - frivolous lawsuit bail out or anything else.

I wouldn't be surprised if her book deal is a way to help her shovel through her financial debt.

I would also like to encourage men on the ‘right’ to speak out when you hear sexism leveled against Ms. Palin.

You guys don’t have to be a woman to do this. ‘White’ leftist ANTI-BIRTHERS aren’t afraid to speak for all ‘blacks’—stupid as they sound when they try.

Careful, and I mean this sincerely.

You’re not going to attract support for Romney by going after Palin. It is guaranteed to redound against him.

You will attract support for Romney by showing that he and Palin are on the same side. Attacks on her from Romneyites will hurt him, it will have the opposite effect from what they intend. The people whose support you need, like her instinctively and for all the right reasons. You need to show them that Romney is right there with them.

If he is.

This was a stupid post.

Sure a “Bristol” could happen to anyone BUT with strong family values at HOME, it doesn't happen.

This happens in all types of families with all types of values. To state otherwise is denying reality.

Romney comes across to me as a cross between Max Headroom and Joe Isuzu. No thanks.

It is men that support Palin, her problem is with women.

I feel betrayed by the Republican Party and their treatment of her to date

Agreed. They were threatened by her. They don't want to give up their own power and privilege. They like the mansions, limos, fancy parties, Delmonico steaks and fine wines. All they have to do is buy a few "moderate" votes, and they've got years of luxury ahead of them.

"We DO share Mitt's family values." nmh

"One issue I want to clarify concerns President Clinton’s “don’t ask, don’t tell, don’t pursue” military policy. I believe that the Clinton compromise was a step in the right direction. I am also convinced that it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nation’s military. That goal will only be reached when preventing discrimination against gays and lesbians is a mainstream concern, which is a goal we share."

Sincerely, W. Mitt Romney

Mitt’s values are best seen through the light of Massachusetts’ voters - they elected him!! Pro gay rights - pro abortion - pro socialized medicine - higher taxes. The fact that he changed course shows that he has no core values - just an opportunist.

“strong family values at HOME,”

This is demeaning to anyone who has a ‘Bristol’ in the family. And I think it’s entirely untrue.

Mitt Romney tortures puppies.

Good observation.

As the oldest son, Tagg Romney commandeered the way-back of the wagon, keeping his eyes fixed out the rear window, where he glimpsed the first sign of trouble. ''Dad!'' he yelled. ''Gross!'' A brown liquid was dripping down the back window, payback from an Irish setter who'd been riding on the roof in the wind for hours.

As the rest of the boys joined in the howls of disgust, Romney coolly pulled off the highway and into a service station. There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car, then hopped back onto the highway. It was a tiny preview of a trait he would grow famous for in business: emotion-free crisis management.
