The Jackasses did it……HR 2749 the Seizure of the US food supply and production passed the House
Farm Wars ^

Posted on 08/01/2009 7:24:30 PM PDT by FromLori

Despite some really eloquent speeches to the contrary, our “for sale” House of Representatives passed the Food Fascism Act….euphemistically called a food safety act, by a margin of about 140 over the naysayer’s.

True to form, Rosa DeLauro spoke about things she knows nothing about and couldn’t care less; Rosa just loves her some Monsanto!

And that exclusion for farms??? Gone! And that includes you organic idiots who thought you had kissed enough behinds to have your industry excluded.

The newly revised bill that appeared overnight after the original was defeated 29th of July, now includes all those farms we were told would not be affected by this legislation. Of course those big agri-corporations made out like bandits. Biopiracy is going to have a profitable future thanks to the political whore’s in congress we call our representatives.

The entire HR 2749 bill was completely wiped and replaced with an amendment that was the text of another bill similar to, but far more lethal than the first. Now, please tell me again that backroom deals and pre-planned votes don’t happen in congress. To make it look bi-partisan, some Democrats voted no, and some Republicans voted yes. This was to make you think they had actually debated and considered what they all intended to do anyway.

The bill that passed does only two things……..it seizes control of food production and supply and then hands it over to big agri-corporations. The remaining content of the bill is a primer on enforcement……meaning all the powers they have granted themselves to prevent you from claiming Constitutional protections, and enabling them to violate your rights on multiple levels…..all for food safety of course.

There is NOTHING in this bill that will address, prevent or otherwise affect the safety of food. This was federal encroachment which will be extended to the states with the cooperation of state officials. This bill did nothing but establish a police agency, granting it massive and uncontrolled enforcement capabilities allowing it to make up even more rules to benefit its corporate sponsors, as it moves along.

Oh! And did I mention this will be done by expanding the FDA? The FDA for god’s sake!

A November 2007 report titled “Subcommittee on Science and Technology, FDA Science and Mission at Risk” doc was a scathing review of the not only the inadequacies of FDA, but the fact that it in no way can assure the safety of food in the United States.

That report cited the massive failure of FDA to perform even its basic functions, going on to declare the agency’s problems were the result of corporate influence and funding. It should have been declared defunct right then and there, but of course the lobbyists who stalk the hallways of congress on behalf bio-pirates and other parasitic corporations just wouldn’t hear of such a thing. I can only assume the report on the massive failure of FDA to operate on even a cursory level ended up in the restrooms to wipe the behinds of all those royal asses who hold down seats in the House and who voted today to end competition for industrialized corporate producers while wiping out family and independent operations.

And it wasn’t just the House that sold us out. In the last few months various organic associations and other assorted producers came out with what they described as “myths on the net” about the intention of these bills. Why…..these bills were not going to apply to family and independent farms and ranches and surely not to organic growers. That was just internet hysteria! I wonder who was hysterical last evening as this bill passed specifically bringing them under the expanded FDA authority? And drinks all around!

I have no doubt that dinner and drinks were being supplied last evening by corporate lobbyists as a way to thank House members for passing this seizure of the US food production and supply. FDA was probably pouring the champagne. I wonder if anyone thought to invite those organic groups?

Maybe they could give everyone a big dose of Vioxx when they arrive, spike it with a Gardasil shot and then wash it all down with a big giant super sized diet soda loaded with that yummy aspartame. This should all be followed by a meal consisting of gmo infected fruits and veggies with a big slab of genetically altered meat just oozing antibiotics, growth hormones and the residues from chemicals of all kinds, shipped in from a country who gave their word they “inspected” the food before shipping it.

After all, thanks to Henry Waxman and his cohorts in Constitutional Crime, that’s what is going to end up on our plates.

“This bill OVERRIDES THE CONSTITUTION!”

And yet how many times when you try to tell people do they look at you as if you were stupid and say:

“That’ll never happen, it’s unconstitutional.”

I really don’t like this new Amerika.

Pignose Waxman has been a very prolific little communist recently, hasn’t he.

And to think that we have to rely on the Kalifornia freaks in Beverly Hills and San Francisco to dump Waxman and Pelosi’s sorry ass!

I wonder how long it will take for Zer0 to appoint a “food Czar” to personally take over another 35 percent of the US economy!

It has some kind of weird special signing notice that goes with it. Proving it has not been tampered with??

That’s exactly the feedback I’m getting.

People have grown so comfortable in assuming that all Americans have other Americans best interest at heart they are ignorant.

The feedback I’ve gotten tonight; “That’s a little extreme. I think they are just testing the companies to make sure we are safe.”

They won’t get it until they are in a situation with food shortages and by then it will be too late.

From http://www.fontcraft.com/rod/?p=1354

“This bill has now been quickly rammed through the House of Representatives. When it failed to get the required two-thirds majority on Thursday a vote was taken to set aside the rules and it was passed with a bare majority. Democrat support was very strong, but most Republicans opposed the bill, presumably on the grounds of natural opposition to the expansion of government bureaucracy and power which it represents. It will now go on to the Senate where there will be another opportunity to stop it from becoming law.”

• A mandatory annual fee of $500 for any facility that “holds, processes, or manufactures food,” a category defined so broadly that it would impact most of the small scale producers who sell things like cheese, bread, eggs and vegetables at farmers markets with a fee sufficiently high to shut many of them down.

Well, I guess that answers my question on the market on the town square every Saturday morning.

HIDEOUSNESS ABOUNDS.

THE TRAITORS PRANCE ABOUT IN VAIN CORRUPTION AND FLAUNT IT RIGHT AND LEFT.

They have no clue the reaping in store for them.

They shall each one have to live through the suffering of every person they caused or added to—feeling that person’s pains and seeing that person’s life through that person’s eyes.

Can you imagine that times 100’s of millions?

I can understand everyone being pi$$ed about another shady bill passing, but has anyone actually read the thing? I’m about half through it and it looks like the bill will require documention on any food sold to the US public be documented. This includes imported food and grains.

Here’s a small section of it that nobody has mentioned yet,

“DEFINITION OF FACILITY- Paragraph (1) of section 415(b) (21 U.S.C. 350d(b)) is amended to read as follows:

‘(B) Such term does not include farms; private residences of individuals; restaurants; other retail food establishments; nonprofit food establishments in which food is prepared for or served directly to the consumer; or fishing vessels (except such vessels engaged in processing as defined in section 123.3(k) of title 21, Code of Federal Regulations, or any successor regulations).

I’m not saying that this is a good bill, with so many Dems voting for it you gotta know that it’s up to no good. But, please read the thing and then write, call or email your reps to b!tch about it, get informed.

I have tried and tried to warn people that this government means to use food as a weapon to force compliance with its will, but may on hear thought I was nuts, they think that the free market will save them, that there's no need for strategic stock plies of food. Between this bill, the fact that there are no longer food reserves being held and with the Chinese so flush with dollars that they will be able to buy the bread right out of our mouths those not prepared will have a long road to hoe. Those of you claiming silver and gold are the answer try eating it. When bread is scarce available and you have a loaf how much are you going to be willing to sell it for? Food, guns and ammo.
A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

My pleasure! It’s a good subject to discuss because there are so many aspects to it, and so many useful things for people to contribute.

Just this evening I was talking with my neighbor, who I have been trying for months to engage in the subject of preparedness. I even told him that come thick or thin, I have his back and he has mine.

He is still convinced he is going to “head for the hills” and “live off the land”. I think he’s fooling himself but I cannot change his mind.

You need a minimum of 2500 calories (or more) a day to survive depending on your circumstances, and considering that the average squirrel is good for about 400 calories, it kind of limits your daily nutritional choices. Yah, you can shoot a deer and try and dry some meat over your campfire, but I’d rather be doing it in the good dehydrator we got (at a discount) and packing it up beforehand in vacume sealed bags that will keep for years without the danger of botulism killing my family.

I also look to stock barter goods, and that can be anything useful from a package of lighters from Costo to the half gallons of sour Mash whiskey and 190 proof grain alcohol we have stashed away. The alcohol is medicinal, antiseptic, anesthetic (in a real pinch) and great for barter. I figure my grandson won’t mind cleaning out that particular locker out in the garage some day...

Another item that goes along with the barrels is either a stock of cheap chlorine bleach or swimming pool chlorinating chemicals. Also you need to make some kind of provisions for emergency filtration of the barrel water, before you boil it for 20 minutes, and then chlorinate it for storage...there are specific sanitary necessities here, so it is best to be informed before you contract typhus or breed mosquitoes in your drinking water supply.

I pray we never need any of this stuff, but in reality it will all come in useful at some point. If I died tomorrow, someone else could still use my supplies, so I feel fine about being prepared. But these days I think there are a lot of very good reasons to be prepared, and that’s a good thing.

Again, understand that my basic survival philosophy revolves around the premise that I will not be forced to evacuate my present location no matter what. That plays a big part in what plans I make and whether I make a stand or run like hell; and your plans may or may not be congruent with mine.
