Revolt is brewing among AARP members against AARP leadership

Last week I wrote in this space that Obamacare could be the death of AARP because it would expose to the rank-and-file of the 40 million member seniors group - most of whom oppose Obamacare - how their Washington leaders have been taking them for a ride for many years.

The AARP leadership scoffed at that suggestion, but check out the video of a Dallas AARP meeting in this post by Moe Lane at Red State. The leadership wanted to give the members the usual dog-and-pony show in favor of government-run health care, but the members weren't buying it. So the leaders got up and left. Evidently, you either sit down, shut up and listen to your leaders in AARP, or they abandon you.

If it happened in Dallas, you can be certain that similar scenes are taking place at other AARP meetings all over the country.

People need to realize this war is about money, keep your eye on the money because there’s probably more coming down the pike with the Federal Reserve’s year end September 30th.

Notice what happened last year, look for what may happen again this year. Will there be another bailout? They got bonuses to pay.

If they are still located in Hartford, they must be putting something in the water. Western Mass and Northeastern CT, are the most Barron for Talk radio in the US IMHO.

Let's face facts about AARP - It is simply a marketing arm for a host of less than stellar products and services. The ‘Leadership’ deals for their own accounts. Not unlike some TV preachers who manage to grow very wealthy on the backs of their members.

I worked for AARP for seven years. I found the management to be a group of ex social workers and wannabee elitists. I got fired for leaking the NY Times that they had lied about the profitability of their magazine to a NY Times reporter (the truth being that neither of their publications — AARP Magazine and the Bulletin — have made a profit in over thirty years.

I'm a member of AARP for insurance purposes, but I loath the leadership. Most people that are members of AARP don't join because they agree with the leadership's political activism, so when the AARP suggests that they represent a large membership, they actually don't. It is all smoke and mirrors. The leadership speaks for no one but itself. It is a despicable organization.

AARP must have been hit hard with cancellations. I received an email today from N.C. AARP stating they did not endorse Obamacare but only promoted a few specific matters listed that if Obamacare goes through want included. They spelled several other things under “facts vs myths.”

I replied that they were wrong as the WH and in Congress they have been referred to as an endorsement.

Yes, we have canceled our membership.

I called and canceled tonight and told them they are embarrassing to America. I said the girl in the Dallas video embarrassed them and the link on their site to SEUI was an offensive link especially to the thugs that beat up the people in St. Louis. I asked for a refund, which is very minimal, and they now say that the money goes to help senior centers. I guess the flood of calls has caused a little cash crunch. Call them and beat them up unmercifully. It feels good to do so. I will also send back and postage paid envelope to anyone that uses their list, EMPTY. Or I'll put in a note saying I don't back communism.

I cancelled yesterday. Kimd of remods me when I lived in WV and the mandatory contributions were requested (United Way). Well, the national YWCA went on a tirade against the 2nd Amendment and they couldn’t raise a penny. Local chapters had to disassociate themselves from the gun issue. Too late, damage done, try again next year.

Several top officials saw the end of their careers. I personally got strong-armed by three of my bosses.
