Congressman Kanjorski had a Telephone Conference Call this past week; the topic was Health Care. Reportedly, someone who called his office was told that he no longer holds Town Hall meetings due to lack of interest.
Some notes I took of the call:
-Kanjorski said in his opening remarks that health plans are regulated at the state level, and that this is an impossible task. He then said that the best Congress can do is to "try and look at the system, and how we can BREAK IT DOWN and what we can do with it"
-He then went on to talk about the things hes read about and seen on television that gives him some very great discomfort meetings held by Arlen Specter, Steny Hoyer, and his "good friend" Lloyd Doggett of Texas .hes seen people interrupt these meetings and raise hell and even screamed down the Secretary of Human Services. This is acceptable in the American system under the provisions of the First Amendment of the Constitution, but it isnt necessarily productive. We should be engaged in a great national debate on one of the major issues affecting all of the American people individually and collectively. At the present rate, healthcare will eat up 50% of our GDP in 20 years.
-People with pre-existing conditions could end up being uninsured, and then there are those who are terribly adequately covered and have what we call a golden parachute type of insurance you may be one of the few or one of the lucky , and something like 50 million of the people in the United States are uncovered by any type of health care insurance
-Americans do not have the best health care in the world. That is just not true, its not true at all (he was presumably remarking about those who say we have the best health care in the country). The US is 29 out of 30 countries in the world in infant mortality We have extraordinary and exceptional care in some instances if youre fortunate enough to be well to do, if youre fortunate to live in the right area of the country If youre fortunate to have the right type of insurance, then you can get exceptional care, but this doesnt apply to the majority of our citizens at all. The US pays twice as much for healthcare than other industrial nations in the world, and these other nations get equal or better service for the money. We are trying to make an adjustment to change that.
-Health and politics have nothing in general in relationship
-There is no single bill that exists presently before the Congress of the US that can be voted on immediately or in the near future; it will take weeks, or several months to get a consolidated bill to come before the House
-There are so many mis-statements out there (about the health care proposals)
-People without medical coverage they will be conduits by which Swine Flu is pedaled all around the country. If these people dont have access to healthcare, they will contaminate the rest of us. (approx 39 minute point)
-He doesnt understand why people dont trust the government
-The naysayers are the ones screaming just say no at these functions
theyre never going to be happy, never going to be satisfied
they didnt like what happened in the last election
Im not worried about them
He sounds like a nut to me.
Ping
He said 29 out of 30 INDUSTRIALIZED countries; just wanted to clarify that, although I’m not sure which the other 29 countries are.
If they’re not out meetin’ their constituents...they need impeachin’....
FOR THOSE NOT YET GOING TO THE TOWN HALL SESSIONS, HERE ARE A FEW ITEMS TO GET YOU OUT FROM IN FRONT OF THAT MIND-BENDING BOOB TUBE:

We believe a man should be concerned about public as well as private affairs, for we regard the person who takes no part in politics not as merely uninterested but as useless. Pericles (Citizen of Athens)

THAT BEGS THE QUESTION “Which are the lousy ones?”
GO TO WWW.GRADEGOV.COM to find out!
Still not motivated?
Still think its too hard??
No this stuff is pretty easy.
THE STATE SLAVERY WERE HEADED INTO IS HARD.
REALLY HARD!
“This is a stat that the proponents keep putting out there. Sometimes the quote is that the US is 7th in infant mortality, so obviously they can’t get their number straight. In any event, I’m not sure this is a credible number.”
Oh it’s about as credible as something like 50 million of the people in the United States are uncovered by any type of health care insurance. For months the number that’s been bandied about was 47 million. In an article in the local Sunday paper today, the number suddenly jumped to “48 million” and by evening it’s “50 million”???
His best quote (according to him) was that you wouldn't want your neighbors kids (uninsured of course) infecting your perfect lib child at school. "Even though we can ALL afford health insurance, the ones who can't will need it the most and our perfect kids will thus be infected by the great hordes of unwashed" Or some such crap.
1. I may believe that number if I see a credible source backing it up. (I’m not planning on that ever happening)
2. The number jumping to 50 million will be explained as those who have lost their jobs, and are now uninsured.
3. How many of these 50 million “here in America” are legal citizens?
4. How many are uninsured by choice?
Unless you’re critically ill, or are in a category placing you at risk that you would require Tamiflu, a doctor’s visit isn’t going to help. So, whether you are insured or not, many will not NEED treatment by a health professional. http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/sick.htm
Did anyone ask this fool what health care program he and his “friends” would have access to?
Of course not. However, there was a person who thought that the government SHOULD provide healthcare to give the private insurers “competition”.
Makes sense to me.
These suddenly sensitive Democrats asking for a "debate" are just liars. They want no debate. They want to slam this power grab through Congress before the People can find out whats in it. Their argument is "Shut Up!"
Wow.
But if only the uninsured spread it, then he shouldn’t be so worried if he and his kids are insured, eh? Who knew?
he’s my rep, lucky me, NOT!
Amazing.
Trying to come up with the words to describe that.
Elitist? Snobbish?
Liberal foolishness??
My point was that long ago, when the swine flu first broke out in Mexico, liberals were even then, jumping on it as an example to promote socialized medicine. I have been wondering how long it would take that twisted idea to be made into talking points for Democrat congress scum.
Your post confirmed my suspicion, that the flu, would indeed be used as a tool. I’ll call it the liberal version of FEAR TACTICS.
