Sarah Palin, the wife of a popular Arctic snowmachine racer who also once served as Alaska's first female governor, seems to find her own popularity plummeting.
According to numbers atop a new poll by CNN/Opinion Research the popular hockey mom's favorable rating in a survey of at least 1,136 adult Americans has plunged seven points since May. A significant drop.
She went from 46% favorable down to 39% a few days after she experienced premature resignation and left office 17 months early to save Alaska from more partisan attacks on her. And, who knows, maybe plan some future political activity in other states.
Palin, who plucked Sen. John McCain from political obscurity in Arizona as her GOP presidential ticket running mate last summer, enjoyed her highest popularity right after a rousing speech at the Republican convention in early September. She was at 57% then, but much higher among Republicans and conservatives.

“Debunk the quitting meme”? So now Palin fans have constructed an alternate universe in which she did not quit her job, a job she was solemnly sworn to fulfill?
This is pathetic. There was a time when conservatives could be counted upon to think clearly and critically on matters of moral obligation, and when they were the first to denounce anything that smelled of “the ends justifies the means” sophistry. But here we have a politician, Sarah Palin, who apparently satisfies certain long-for “ends” for some nominal conservatives. And so they’re quite willing to allow her to use any “means” necessary to get where she wants to go, even if it requires a silly, weak, dishonest and disjointed resignation speech that basically sold out the conservative principles of perseverance, courage, honesty and fortitude.
She’s a pitbull with lipstick. Uh-huh. Right. Keep on telling yourself that.
I see a train wreck approaching for Palin, not a triumphant march to the White House. She is not presidential caliber, and the classless manner in which she walked out on a governorship is just one more in a mounting number of indicators that her time as someone to take seriously is coming to an end.

But she resigned though, where in that oath did it say she has to serve out the entire term? As opposed to having her criss-cross the country while collecting a check as Governor? Which option do you think is more honorable?

In her case, which she did. She put the people of her state ahead of whatever future ambitions she may have had and gracefully stepped down. Again, as opposed to just "milking it" and gaming the system. A politician who steps down to fight for what's right. When was the last time you heard of that?

She served with honor and integrity, she stepped down for the good of the state. You conveniently forget that she resigned from the state energy commission when she saw corruption. She could have easily stayed and looked the other way but she took on the corruption.

Yes, she is. For a private citizen, she continues to get massive media coverage and has a huge grassroots following. Name another Republican that has what she has.

That's just your opinion. Remember, that she's not a declared candidate of any sorts, so speculation about her chances in 2012 are moot at this point. I'll say this: I support her goals of bringing back government to the people and whatever else she does.
In a million years Reagan would never have dreamed of walking out on a job he took an oath to fulfill. In fact, the contrast between Reagan and Palin goes directly to my point in an earlier post. Palin conservatives appear unable to think clearly about moral obligation, an inability which Reagan never suffered for one minute of his life.
