Voters Say Carter Is Best of Living Ex-Presidents (Barf Alert!)
Rasmussen Reports ^ | August 14, 2009

Posted on 08/14/2009 6:20:22 AM PDT by rightwingintelligentsia

For nearly one-out-of-three voters (32%), Jimmy Carter is the living ex-president who has done the best job since leaving the White House, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

Carter, who served in the White House from 1977 to 1981, ranks first among the four surviving presidents. George W. Bush, who has only been out of office seven months, comes in last with nine percent (9%) support.

Bill Clinton, president from 1993 to 2001, made headlines again last week when he successfully brought two imprisoned U.S. women reporters home from North Korea. He is viewed by 29% as the ex-president who has performed best since stepping down as chief executive.

“Voters Say Carter Is Best of Living Ex-Presidents (Barf Alert!)”

Were did they poll; the Palestinian territories? Anyone know that the best of the ex-POTI right now is Clinton. Bush has not been “ex” long enough and Carter is as anti-American as they come.

He (Clinton) is viewed by 29% as the ex-president who has performed best since stepping down as chief executive.

I’ll buy that.

Well, It’s pretty clear the Rasmussen Report isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on. Who’d they survey? The Carter family?

When Jimmy worked with Habitat for Humanity, he could have maybe qualified for this. When he started gracing our airwaves with his international perspecitives, he blew it.

Thoughtless responses based upon current events that have Jimmy Carter’s name being repeated constantly, therefore name recognition without the association to the dripping wad of excrement associated with the name.

Same with Clinton, but associated with the saving of two Damsel’s in distress places him over even Shrek who rescued only one.

Ya ask Tinkerbell, and ya get these answers.

It doesn’t surprise me at all the media always give little vignettes of Jimmuh and Habitat for Humanity and going overseas to oversee voting in third world countries, they don’t listen to what the Communist astard says and believes.

If you prefer an ex-president who routinely undermines Republican policies, he is your hands down winner. If I had been Ronald Reagan, I would have invited him outside for an attitude adjustment.

We are getting a reminder of Carter right now. Bad policies, failures, double digit inflation and interest rates and double digit unemployment, not to mention shortages and national humiliation. Carter was a one term blunder, a lesson that should have been learned but wasn’t. That’s why we have 0 in the White House.

If Carter would just STFU, and stick to building his houses....he could have been considered a "Statesman". People have short memories, and eventually would have forgotten (or stopped talking about) the "Wear a Sweater" fireside chats. Also the Misery Index, Rabbit Attacks, Iran, Cold War, and innumerable other things.

But, since he insists on continuously running his mouth about all things under the sun, people will never forget.

Better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth an confirm it.

because Carter never misses a photo op with Habitat for Humanity and Bubba never misses a chance to get his mug on TV. The Bushes on the other hand have wisely gone to ground, so as not to get in the way of the impending Obama implosion

This question is a little misleading because it says since leaving office. A lot of uninformed just see him associated with Habitat for Humanity since he left office. They forget all his embarrassing foreign trips (N. Korea springs to mind). I used to think Carter was the most incompetent while president, but King Barry has caused me to change that somewhat.

I like to tell this true story:

My 80 year old father had a stroke. He lost his speech for awhile and had some memory problems as well. He was rehabing at my sister’s home, so we often would sit in on his therapy sessions...the speech therapist was helping with speech and cognition.

Even though he was a man who had “lived” for sports, he would sometimes have trouble recalling 10 famous baseball players of the past, or 10 present football players, but the therapist kept pushing.

One session he asked my dad, “Name the best and worst president of your lifetime.” Without missing a beat my dad said, “Reagan, best; Carter, worst.” At that point we knew he was going to be okay!!!! He eventually fully recovered.

I’m actually not that surprised. Carter is thought of as a humanitarian by many for his work with Habitat for Humanity and other causes. Far fewer are likely aware of his stances on specific issues and the implications of his post-Presidential diplomatic efforts (read: meddling) abroad.

This is just a human characteristic, in my view. The further away from an event you are in time, the fonder you remember it. For me, that is getting to be college. Hated it when I was there, much fonder now.

On the other hand, the fact that apparently many people have never heard of the "Misery Index" created for the Carter Administration is sad. I'm thinking a 30-year white-washing by public education of the Carter years has rehabilitated him as much as possible.

I think they meant Carter is the President voters were happiest to see leave the White House.

People who aren't paying attention only know about the Habitat for Humanity thing, which I believe Carter got paid a lot of money for doing.
