A new Rasmussen poll shows that without the inclusion of a government-run plan, support for health care legislation drops to 34 percent, with 57 percent opposed. Dropping the measure does not win over those already skeptical of the legislation, it errodes support among liberals.
It's important to remember that all of those people that are on the left fighting for health care legislation -- the unions, the activists, etc. -- are fighting for the inclusion of a government-run plan.
If Obama drops the idea, in other words, he loses the most passionate defenders of health care legislation -- the people making the calls, organizing rallies, and signing petitions -- and the most intense sentiment is among those who oppose his policies.
Rasmussen found that without the government plan, just 9 percent of people say they would "strongly favor" legislation, compared with 26 pecent who expressed strong support just a week ago.

HA HA...Obami, you socialist jackass!
the hard-left who really want single payer walk away from the table at that point
Americans from both sides now hate this bill. Time to drop it and move on...
Shows how dumb Obama’s supporters are.
They don’t intend to drop the public option, they’re just saying they are. Some for (or the seed) of a public option will be in the plan.
The following needs to be repeated often.
Why are the unions and the Congress and the President fighting so hard to establish a health care plan that they, unllike the rest us, WILL NEVER BE COMPELLED TO JOIN?
How stupid must you be to believe that this collection of goons and elites really has your best interests at heart, especially since they will not subject themselves to the same "health" plan?
I hear the Democrats have an idea for providing better health care to more people at less cost. If it was me - I’d get out of politics immediately and go make the 100s of billions of dollars such an idea is worth in the private sector. That’s the sort of thinking that made the country great. Of course, you know what they say. Those who can, do. Those who can’t, go into politics.

they’re not that dumb. They are sick and tired of waiting for incrementalism. They dumped hillary for Obama because they want their socialism NOW.
This was the best opportunity they can get: an historic first black president with filibuster proof senate and house led by pelosi following a very unpopular GOP president. If they wait, they won’t be able to take advantage of the financial crisis and they may have to deal with even more blue dogs and republicans.
But without this health plan, they will realize that they worked so hard to defeat Bush only to get more troops and Predator assassinations in Afghanistan, lotso $$$ for banks and AIG and also some pothole projects.
you never see any liberal counter protesters with signs: “I’m for the co-op plan (whatever that is)!”
They are dammed if they don’t, and even more dammed if they do! You gotta love it!
Let’s get this straight.
Obama’s health care plan will be written by a committee whose head says he doesn’t understand it and advised by a guy that doesn’t believe in the Hippocratic oath, passed by a Congress that hasn’t read it and whose members will exempt themselves from it, signed by a president who smokes, funded by a treasury chief who did not pay his taxes, overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that is broke.
What could possibly go wrong?
Heh. Fortunate for us he has decided that to get this plan to pass he will take out the compulsory part of the plan to satisfy those who don’t want a plan at all, and thus lose the support of those who won’t accept the plan without the compulsory part.
And this is the guy with The Football.
Watch MSNBC Maddow, Schulz and Olbermann every night plead with Obama to cut off Senate liberal republicans from negotiations, it’s gold. I get more enjoyment out of this in a day than any weeks in the last 3 years of Bush
Glad Mccain is NOT president! Glad, Glad, Glad!
“Obamacare=Health Care To Die For”
What could possibly go right?
Would you be my senator? Heck, would you be my President?
ETR--Rush led off his program just now with reference to this! Did you send it to him?
