Yeah it does. Larry Allen, who just retired, benched over 700 pounds. Do you really think he wouldn't have destroyed players from the 1960s? Jerry Kramer weighed in at 265. He wouldn't last a quarter in one of today's games.
OTOH, people came close to committing murder during games in the 60s, and the most they got was a fifteen yarder.

What cost $125,000 in 1966 would cost about $800,000 today. Imagine trying to pay a player of the caliber of Mays or Koufax $800,000? And just imagine what a Ted Williams, Stan Musial, Mickey Mantle, etc. would be paid.
