These terms that they use sound like the kind of terms historians would use to describe how a figure in history felt about some incident. "deeply troubled", "deep concern", "deeply saddened". It's like they are incapable of true emotions and real reactions. Bush and Clinton did it too.

I saw a short vidclip of that event, and was thinking at the time the world would be a better place if that sort of thing were to happen.
“Highly objectionable”....Obama uses language that an upper class twit in an old British movie would use. Come to think of it, he is rather twittish....Chamberlainesque, one might even say.
Exactly. Reagan and Bush Sr. pretty well neutered Gaddafi, and W persuaded him to give up his ties to Muslim terrorism and turn in his nukes. Since then, he has pretty much spit on the Arabs and has been playing a pan-African game instead.
What Obama has succeeded in doing is to show such weakness that Gaddafi is now doing a bit of Islamist celebrating, and our former ally the UK is trading terrorists for oil.
What good would it do to pull our ambassador from Libya or stage another fight with Brown? Let the Brits handle that matter. But the obvious thing is that Obama’s foolish behavior is causing other nations—including our allies, to disrespect us.
Hopefully, Gaddafi will stop there, and not get back into the terrorist revolutionary business. And hopefully the Brits and Scots will take care of their own scuzzy politicians.

ha ha. thats actually quite funny. if this libyan waits long enough, and we extradite him to the U.S., and the obamacare passes, he should then get the public option and have his expenses paid for.... since our elected offices, education system, and scholarships are going to illegals, rather than those born here. Funny how things are working out. Can’t wait for the movie.
I know nothing of all this, but I have *heard* that there are some folks in Scotland (Lockerbie itself?) who thought he might be innocent.
Some of the UK online news outlets... have remarks in the comment section that show this to be true.

the problem with events like this, where the average person expects a different, more appropriate reaction from their leader, is that it fuels deep misgivings, and huge concerns over the legitimacy of those governing.
And....when other nation’s leaders (aka Brown), whom apparently agreed with the release but wrote in a letter that there better not be any partying going on in Libya on the murderer’s arrival or people across the pond may get all wee-weed up, then the brits and scots will question the legitimacy of their government.
Result?....hopefully downfall.

again,...if the framing of an innocent libyan is true,..then the Brits have some serious justice problems:
1) they convict the wrong man
2) Kaddafi pays 1.5 billion in compensation
3) the scottish justice states, while the guy was convicted, he is released on compassionate reasons.
4) out of the blue, kaddafi’s son states that the when the brits brought up trade agreements with the libyans, the murderer’s release was a caveat.
oh, what the puppet masters do to pull our strings which way they want us to move.
