On the Hannity show, Dick Morris just said he thinks the Democrats will lose as many as 100 seats in 2010. Hannity was so shocked that he audibly gasped.
I wouldn’t get my hopes up. Any improvement in the economy is going to be credited to the Democrats, rightly or wrongly, and that will help them. Assuming, of course, the economy improves.
People are getting afraid of dems... that works in our favor.
Not unless Michael Steele saddles up this horse...
“The people want justice. They want the grift and fraud excised. They want those who blew these huge bubbles for their own personal aggrandizement and profit while ripping off the common man to get their just desserts - an indictment and a prison sentence, not another billion-dollar bonus.”

That’s my concern too - are there really that many non-rinos actually running?
Lt. Col Allen West is a hero if ever there was one:
From wikipedia:
While serving in Taji, Iraq on August 20, 2003 as commander of the 2d Battalion 20th Field Artillery, 4th Infantry Division, Lieutenant Colonel West was in charge of the interrogation of an Iraqi police officer who was suspected of having information about planned attacks on American forces. According to the Iraqi police officer, Yehiya Kadoori Hamoodi claimed that during the interrogation, soldiers under West’s supervision assaulted him attempting to get him to talk.
The police officer insisted that he did not know anything about planned attacks and was loyal to the United States Army. However, when the detainee didn’t talk, Lieutenant Colonel West fired his 9mm pistol close to the man’s head and at this point, the man gave information about a planned ambush, resulting in its being thwarted. According to West, there were no further ambushes on U.S. forces in Taji until he was relieved of command on October 4, 2003.
In an interview with the New York Times the Iraqi police officer, Yehiya Kadoori Hamoodi, said he felt he must have been falsely implicated by another alleged informant as being a plotting assassin and that the information he provided was useless and obtained under duress.
West, who at the time was just short of having 20 years of service, was charged with violating articles 128 (assault) and 134 (general article) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and was in danger of receiving an 11 year prison sentence, dishonorable discharge and losing his retirement benefits. West was processed through an Article 32 hearing in November 2003, where he admitted wrongdoing, was fined $5,000 over two months for misconduct and assault. He then submitted his resignation, and was allowed to retire with full benefits in the summer of 2004.
After West’s resignation was brought to public attention the next Fall, he received over two thousand letters and e-mails from the American public offering him moral support. In addition, a letter was drafted to the secretary of the Army, its signatories being ninety-five members of Congress in West’s support. Even a prominent critic of the Abu Graib affair, Sen. John W. Warner of Virginia, wrote a letter to his constituents in support of West’s honorable intentions during the controversial incident.
In January 2004, the conservative Frontpage Magazine named West its Man of the Year.[1]
And the GOP as we now know it,would not purge government of leftist bureaucrats as they should. We need a far more conservative GOP than we have now, with no fear of using power.
Yes, the do recruit, but anyone is free to run without the blessing of the Party.
Yes, they do raise some funds and do some advertising, but not in the Primary.
If you NEED their help, in the General, you probably don't have a very good chance of winning.
Politics is a team sport.
My advice is to go to a few rallies or meetings, go to prolife or 2nd Amendment or Tea Party events.
Meet candidates you like.
Then work for those candidates.
The Political Party does have a role, but the Party has no control over the elected officials, and no control over who runs under the Party label.
Believe it or not, this is a GOOD thing, it puts the VOTERS in charge.
The Dems hold a 40 seat edge over Republicans in the House.
Earlier today I said that I did not think it possible to get that many back in one election.
Another FReeper reminded me that the R got over 50 seats in 94.
Like you said, this is Morris. We can hope but let’s not get lazy over it.
I would love to see this happen,...but will the determination we see now with angry voters last until the election in 2010?
btw..I would settle for 3 Dem Senators, Reid being one of them....Nevada needs to daschle him!
He may have the numbers in his hands and getting the poll results firstest...But it’s not like he’s infallible or even close a significant part of the time. I still remember him being on BOR & H&C “swearing on a stack of...” that Hillary was destined to become the next POTUS..no doubt about it! ..No one else stood a chance!...
Dick Morris is usually wrong, but always interesting and entertaining.
We’ll see what the landscape is like. 100 is definitely high, but the public is more angry than I’ve ever seen them. If things continue on their current course, 2010 could make ‘94 look like an easy time to have a D next to your name.
Anything can happen between now and the election though and don’t count out idiot Republicans doing everything they can to insure a loss.
Then bookmark this and see how Morris' predictions turn out.
The will of the people cannot be denied by a bunch of 2 bit, low life vermin.
We didn't fight a bitter war against the British, just to sit idly by and let some wannabe African dictator to come install a thuggocracy in this country.
If the big Zero wants a nasty, brutal right, he's on. So far, his ACORN and SEIU things have not exactly been having too much luck in their attempts to thwart the angry Americans at the Townhalls have they?
We will see soon enough in the VA and NJ governorship elections won't we?
Yeah..but would it be veto proof to recind all the crap they’ve passed in the last 6 months?
Now just where to these "Repub" candidates come from? Pluto? They come from the local elections. If you get out and allow nothing but conservatives in the ring, the rest will follow.
THIS is the time. THIS is the second coming of Carter. This is the Contract with America and the otherwise joyful demise of Mr. Peanut rolled into one. It's ours to piss away. They don't call the GOP "the Stupid Party" for nothing. Get off yer butt and make it happen. The "Repubs" are nothing without conservatives right now.
We are in a unique moment, and it's very much a lead, follow, or just get the hell out of the way situation. If the right allows the media to pick another aimless wallflower like McCain in the next election, you can kiss any chance of restoring this republic goodbye.
God, please let this stopped clock be right this time.
All I can do is agree with everything you say. The pubbies kinda screwed the pooch when they had all the power.
I’m done with worrying about republicans morality. I am worried about how they will vote. Will they stand up to the onslaught once they get to DC?
We are not going to elect sinless beings on this side of glory.
Doubtful we’ll pick up anywhere near 100. I’d be thrilled to pick up enough gain a majority and LET THE INVESTIGATIONS BEGIN!
Morris’s prediction of a 100 House seat gain is based on the assumption that America enters into a double dip recession in 2010.
Wow.
Be ready for $7.00 a gallon gas.
If Americans stand up for America, and do their duty to defend our country and flag, Morris will have been right. IT IS UP TO US.
That gives the Democrats a majority.A 100 seat switch would yield 64% Republican and 36% Democrat.
That would give the Republicans a majority in the House sufficient to put forward CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS and can be counted on to defeat any Presidential veto.
Been a very long time since a single party had such a majority. However, it shows the power of the Constitution to deal readily with the problem presented by a weak but ideologically confused President.
Provided the Senate "goes along" with the House, the Speaker can actually "rule" in the senate a parliamentary prime minister can rule (given that degree of majority in the House).
Joe Morris may be low-balling the numbers here. It's possible NO Democrat will win in the next election, and after that kind of majority, certainly not in the foreseeable future!
NOTE: I know 64% is not 2/3 but you can count in a handful of Democrats to "jump ship" and become part of the Republican ruling majority ~
ACORN, Panthers and sundry Union thugs are vastly outnumbered; their advantage is in their superior organization. They have tentacles all over the place, many hidden, but they’ve had quite a head start. I think they derive much of their power because many of their activities, funding, leadership remains murky. Blow their cover and their influence can be negated.
But the irony of all this is that the Republicans always seem to be most effective and at their best when they are in the minority. That’s when they seem to “get it together” and, more or less, unite as conservatives. But then once they become the majority, they forget about why they became a majority and become big spending liberals. I don’t get it.
we could all register for the primary as INDEPENDENTS or as DEMS.
talk about them getting all wee-wee’d up!
then of course we could drop out .....just imagine the statement it would make!!!
gotta find out the $ involved...and I bet we would have to bring a copy of our BIRTH CERTIFICATE!!!!!!! Horrors!
Your third party loons only bring a democrat victory.
Morris will have a totally different prediction in his next appearance on Fox. I hope he’s right, but he is always touted as THE go-to expert and he ends up wrong everytime. Remember, he predicted Hillary and Condi Rice would be the 2008 candidates. He’s a toad and I don’t trust him one minute.
Gerrymandering involves creating as many districts as possible with a comfortable margin for your party, putting as many of the opposition into a smaller number of districts with an overwhelmingly large margin. In most years this guarantees a majority for the party doing the gerrymandering.
In a blowout election many of the districts with a comfortable Dem margin will be won by Republicans. That is how the GOP won the California legislature in 1994.
The really big point is that the legislatures elected in 2010 will be the ones creating the gerrymanders. A blowout election in 2010 will result in heavily Republican Congresses and legislatures for the next decade.
There is a limit to what even Acorn can do. Coleman would have won if he had a solid 5% lead over a$$ clown, but when it gets to the down and dirty they generally will sew it up in court.
There was no way we were going to win last time, it was all going against us. McLaim gave me little reason to my trust in him. This time may well be different, we may have the wind to our backs, and all our sails full.
I played it back to be sure I didn’t hear incorrectly. By God, he did say 100 seats could be lost.

Lt. Col Allen West is not in my district, but I’ll help any way I can.
And Nancy Pelosi goes back to her closet office up in the attic of the Rayburn building.
Nice.
That would be the most amount of seats we’ve held since 1920.
I can envision at least 10 to 20 Free Republic members standing in Congressional races next year.
Um... I like your attitude and cheerful outlook, but the ENTIRE house is re-elected every two years. There will always be absolutely brain-dead districts that would vote for Nero while Rome burns. mASSachusetts comes to mind.
But we can dream, can't we?
Those were primarily Reagan republicans and coservatives in '94. Since then, the party politicos have forgotten their roots and headed left and have spent like driunken sailors and have increased the size of government! No disrespect to drunken sailors!
Keep in mind that it's not the US House or Representatives that defines congressional districts, it's the individual state legislative bodies.
Just because the Republicans have a good year next year, won't necessarily mean that the districts will change in any measurable or favorable way for the Republicans.
0’B care plus control plus licking illegals axx, mite do them in.
The “pubies” never had all the power. They never had a “super majority” and without that you have to thrash things out with the other side. That’s the problem the Democrats are facing right now ~ their Leftwingtards think they have the power and are pushing all kinds of nonsense ~ but they don’t have a supermajority, and they’re not going to get one.
You used the terms 'Dick Morris' and 'trust' in the same sentence?
HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!
I think he’s wrong by 50. My guess is a pick up of 50 seats in the House.
And now they’re going after the CIA etc, bring on the leaks !
With all due respect, I fully understand how the process works.
