CURL: Biden fills vacationing Obama's void
Washington Times ^ | Sept. 4, 2009 | Joseph Curl

There's no "I" in "team," but there is definitely one in "Biden."

With President Obama off on vacation, his second in two weeks, unofficial Acting President Joe Biden has stepped into the vacuum, claiming credit Thursday for the successes of the administration's $787 billion stimulus package and fielding questions on health care reform something his boss hasn't done in nearly two weeks.

The vice president, borrowing Mr. Obama's teleprompter for a speech before a friendly audience at the Brookings Institution, said "I" more than a dozen times as he pointed repeatedly to progress on the economy and to his lofty role in the process.

"Every week -- with notable exceptions -- I hold a Cabinet meeting. And most of the Cabinet secretaries attend," he told the audience in Washington.

"I made it clear that our focus had to be, in the first 100 days, accountability, transparency and responsiveness. CLIP

In a presidential-like declaration, Mr. Biden said the buck stops with him. "I take responsibility for mistakes that were made," he said at one point.

Mr. Obama, his poll numbers plummeting after a long August recess, has all but dropped out of sight, except for his appearances at the services for Sen. Edward M. Kennedy. In Martha's Vineyard last week, he kept reporters far away as he played golf on Monday, and Tuesday, and Thursday and Friday.

Since his prerecorded radio address on Aug. 22, Mr. Obama hasn't said a word about health care, which has quickly climbed to the top of the list of concerns for Americans. Instead, he choppered off to Camp David on Wednesday, and was heard from on Thursday just once when he proclaimed September "National Wilderness Month."

He’s got to have some void to fill, since his host organism just died.

What’s the low percentage of the stimulus spent so far?

Last I heard, Biden wanted more. (meh)

"As of now, I am in control here, in the White House, pending return of the Vice President and in close touch with him. If something came up, I would check with him, of course."

Ahhh, Vice President Biden checked out years ago Mr. Secretary. looks like you're the one in control this time. Oh, if a hefty lady in a bright colored pants suit shows up, have her arrested.

ROTFLMAO!!!!

Un-frickin-believable!! So Biden assumes the role of Shemp in the absence of Curly!

FWIW & IMHO Shemp in a solo was the funniest of them all. So is Biden (see tagline)

Obamatards are threatening the nation with just how much worse it could be with Joe the habitual liar at the helm. They forget that the major difference here is skill at lying. Joe has no filter and no concept of shading his statements. This could be refreshing. Maybe 0Bambi should go back to Chi-town and organize some more, because this job is way way above his pay grade.

Is anybody keeping an eye on the comings and goings at Camp David?

Something tells me Zero isn’t “relaxing” after his vacation on the Vineyard. I’ll just bet he’s huddling with his henchmen, cooking up some new deviltry.

"With President Obama off on vacation, his second in two weeks, unofficial Acting President Joe Biden has stepped into the vacuum, ..."

"'I made it clear that our focus had to be, in the first 100 days, accountability, transparency and responsiveness. I wanted each of those Cabinet secretaries to set up systems where they would have a high degree of confidence that as they implemented what they were in charge of, it would be done effectively and efficiently.'"

I thought the Cabinet posts remained largely unfilled (all those czars, you know).

"In a presidential-like declaration, Mr. Biden said the buck stops with him. 'I take responsibility for mistakes that were made,' he said at one point."

Are we the public being prepared for BO to step down and Biden to become Acting President?

Oh wait, according to the 20th Amendment, he's been (constitutionally-qualified) Acting President since January 20th, right? Didn't Justice Stevens (saw this on the live feed) say "Congratulations, Mr. President" after administering the Oath of Office (which, btw, Biden did not mess up and have to have re-administered in secret)?

And what's up with rumors of Justice Stevens retiring? I hope he'll hang on long enough to wave bye-bye to BO.

comings and goings at Camp David

Negabama, broken axlerod and the ballerina are feverishly re-reading Alynski’s manifesto to see if Saul bothered to include any defensive manuevers to counter the Tea Party/Townhall/GB/Rush/FNC bulldozers pushing on weak spots in soros/nobama/dems house of cards. Lil georgy soros told them they better come up with something FAST, while he’s sitting in the corner tearing up his checks and looking over maps of where he will need to escape to.

Hmmm......

It is almost as if the DNC is setting the stage for an orderly removal of Hussein.

Maybe there's something to the citizenship question after all!
