(CNN) -- Could George W. Bush or some of his top aides end up behind bars?
It's extremely unlikely, but the Obama administration is taking its first steps along a path that could lead in that direction, with the investigation of Central Intelligence Agency interrogators involved in the war on terror.
"You don't know where these things are going to end up," former CIA agent Peter Brookes told me. "They could go to very high levels in the government."
The probe will focus on whether interrogators exceeded their instructions and broke the law when, for example, they choked a prisoner until he lost consciousness or threatened another one with a gun and a power drill.

I think the real war we need is to take down the COMMUNIST NEWS NETWORK first! Then we go after the others one by one, just like gangs take over turf.
“And now you’re quoting Obama’s most recent tool to bring this phrase back into our lexicon, Linda Douglass, the communications director for the White House’s Health Reform Office, which wouldn’t know a fact if it bit them in the collective bum. Uh huh. Fascinating. Keep at it. You must have one hell of a supply of straw. Keep goats about, do you? Oh, no, wait, must be donkeys.”
I was quoting John Adams.
LOL. You are correct; I had forgotten about that. Although I hear that the hapless Gibbs did have a WoT slip last week.
Move to Austin, we need lots of help getting rid of the socialists here.
It's a pock on the state.
Maybe not a president. But an entire nation, yes. We are being imprisoned and don't even realize it.
I'm not a bit surprised.
If they send ACORN/Black Panther members to polling places, I would recommend they first contact AFLAC, John Hancock and a reputable burial insurance company. I don’t think they know what kind of fire they’re playing with.
Why the provocation? I thought we agreed we were finished.
You'd rather attack Bush for his lack of conservatism than defend the country against a Marxist take-over, and you freely admit it.
I'm pretty sure I'm not the one whose head is in the sand, eleni. I'm seeing pretty clearly now, and fighting tooth and nail for the country more than I ever have before.
I wish you'd join me. Your emotions, directed at the enemy instead of your fellow conservatives, would be helpful in the fight.
It is true that it is much more difficult to do anything with the press arrayed against us. But it is not a waste of time to go to DC. We see each other, for one thing, and even if the press refuses to report a word of it, we will know the truth. That is always how the press deals with the big pro-life march every year - they ignore it. But in these times of Twitter, YouTube, etc. it’s going to be much harder for the press to control that information.
I plan to be Twittering.
BTW, people who want to follow an event should look into a site called “Tweet Grid.” (www.tweetgrid.com) It enables you to select Tweets based on the subject of those tweets, and assembles them into a sort of real-time, constantly updated table of Tweets. I followed Honduras with Tweet Grid.
We will be there in DC - not sure if we'll be able to meet up, but it sure would be fun. We have to miss the morning stuff, but will be there for the big rally, and then have to drive home to Ohio (for church Sunday a.m.)
Is there a FR center of action where I can look you up? I would LOVE to finally see you face to face - especially after all these bloody fights we've fought together. :)
Tell you what, kev. When you apologize to me for lying about me, comparing me with Pelosi, calling me an idolater, and attacking my faith, I'll admit to being a provocateur.
“It is true that it is much more difficult to do anything with the press arrayed against us. But it is not a waste of time to go to DC.”
The state sovereignty movement is the key. THAT might have a chance. Remember how the previous two Tea Party nationwide events were reported?
“while you continue to distort the truth about a man who was very conservative on some very important matters, including those of life and death.”
Because he was very liberal on so many other important matters.
Stop the pity party thing you have going on...it doesn’t befit a conservative.
Snap out of it...
A veto override requires a two-thirds vote of both the House and Senate (Article 1, Section 7 of the US Constitution).
Do you really think that if President Bush had vetoed the CFR bill, that 7 of the 40 senators who voted against it would have changed their vote in favor of it and none of the 60 who voted for it would have changed to vote against it?
Most of these people are coming with state groups, and I hope there’s some emphasis on the states they come from and the fact that state sovereignty is a vital concept that has always been a bit neglected (because the Federal government realizes that it is a threat) but has never been more important than now.
Wow. Pretty heavy indictment of all of us real life conservatives, troll.
Just for the record - not for you, troll, but for the conservatives - there is not ONE "liberal agenda" that I have ever defended, on this thread or any other in all my posts. Therefore, since you are both a liar and a troll, I will join the others who are putting you on permanent "Ignore."
Maybe some day when you grow up or become a conservative in real life, I'll talk to you again. Until then.........have a nice liberal life.
Not for lack of trying.
Had he been able to by Imperial Decree, without having to deal with that pesky Congress, he certainly would have.
"See you at the bill signing".
That is perfect.
I asked you to join in the fight for our country that I am ACTIVELY engaged in.
Put aside your emotions and join the battle against evil, eleni. We need everyone, including you.
Buck up, put on your armor and fight the enemy. DO it!
“So you are saying that ALL of us FReepers who are joining the march on Washington for freedom, including Jim Robinson, aren’t “accomplishing much of anything?””
It’ll work about as well as other protests on the Mall.
“Wow. Pretty heavy indictment of all of us real life conservatives, troll.”
You aren’t a real life conservative if you defend liberals.
“Just for the record - not for you, troll, but for the conservatives - there is not ONE “liberal agenda” that I have ever defended, on this thread or any other in all my posts. Therefore, since you are both a liar and a troll, I will join the others who are putting you on permanent “Ignore.””
You defend 2nd most liberal domestic agenda in the past 9 years, so yes... you do.
“Maybe some day when you grow up or become a conservative in real life, I’ll talk to you again. Until then.........have a nice liberal life.”
Perhaps when you grow out of your infatuation with certain politicians, you will be willing to judge said politicians by the policies they enact.
“Most of these people are coming with state groups, and I hope theres some emphasis on the states they come from and the fact that state sovereignty is a vital concept that has always been a bit neglected (because the Federal government realizes that it is a threat) but has never been more important than now.”
The States putting a stop to this may be the only thing that can work, now.
I’d rather it be Janet Reno. She was a very bad girl.
That's all we need to know about you, troll.
Now stop lying, OK? It's getting really boring.
“I’m fighting against liberalism, and you’re fighting against me.”
You are defending a liberal. You’re only fighting one party’s liberalism.
“Now stop lying, OK? It’s getting really boring.”
To stop, I’d have to start.
AND I demand that you stop mollycoddling Jorge and continue the efforts against Zero.
But put aside those flimsy memories about Bush...most of them are based on emotion not fact.
The facts remain: Bush had 8 years to turn this nation forward on a path of Conservatism and he merely opened the door to Zero. Whatever little he did that was conservative he did kicking and screaming all the way.
“Whatever little he did that was conservative he did kicking and screaming all the way.”
His Presidency was such a wasted opportunity.
(No more lying now, sweetie, OK? Thanks ever so much! :)
Now get on with your life, get over these emotional outbursts, and try to save the country with me.
If you don't want to, don't complain about what happens. I'm fighting. You can do what you want.
Ted Kaczinski hasn't mailed out any letter-bombs recently, either.
Does he (Kaczinski) get any credit for being reformed?
“(No more lying now, sweetie, OK? Thanks ever so much! :)”
You really do like insulting conservatives, don’t you?
In my neck of the woods, we tend to take offense to being called a “liar”.
“Does he (Kaczinski) get any credit for being reformed?”
But what's amazing here is that you - a self promoting conservative activist - are so breathlessly willing to give Jorge a free pass.
Now that is disturbing.
That makes little sense.
BTW—a hint: an honest critique of the “compassionate” Bush signifies a powerful and principled aggression against Zero.
Now since the flyswatter didn't work, I may have to try something a bit more potent to get you to leave me alone.
Have a great life, son. Become involved. Fight the Marxists. BE a conservative, don't play one on the Internet.
I hope you'll be happy when this happens, because all that rage is eating you up inside.
Oh.....and btw, I disagree with some of what President Bush did, but there is NO need for me to attack him. People like you who are filled with irrational rage do enough for 1000 others. I disagree with his immigration policy, but I don't think he's the devil personified because of it. I think signing CFR was a mistake, but I don't think he's a despicable traitor because he did.
All I do here is defend him against the lies and false accusations bandied about so recklessly. If that bugs you, so be it. I just don't like lying.
“Then stop doing it, and you won’t have to be offended.”
That’s just it: I haven’t lied.
“Have a great life, son. Become involved. Fight the Marxists. BE a conservative, don’t play one on the Internet.”
You first. First thing would be to realize that the Party doesn’t matter: actions do. Until then, you are fighting for one part of the SAME side. The other side.
Maybe, eventually, you’ll grow up enough to realize that.
Indeed, GWB did not give amnesty to illegals in the same way Hillary Clinton did not give HillaryCare to America.
I defended President Bush's integrity and his faith.
I defended his strong pro-life stance. I defended his stellar choice of conservative judges. I defended his strong support of the military, and the war in Iraq. I have enumerated my MANY Conservative credentials and my provable conservative activism.
There is NOT ONE LIBERAL POLICY that I have defended here and you know it.
You are lying about what I have said, and you know it.
No more from me. And no more lying from you, boy. It's getting disgusting. There is no reason to believe you are anything more than an August sign on date trouble making troll.
“That makes little sense.”
That’s because it’s based entirely on emotion. Therefore, they feel no need or desire to defend the liberal policies we oppose. They feel any questioning of him is an attack on their “friend”.
Just like the Obamabots.
Thanks for ending this little "debate" with a laugh.
I never thought that conservatives could get caught up in personality cults like Ohiowfan seems to done.
An honest evaluation of the Bush years can lead to a growing base for conservative values.
We are definitely on the same side - the right side - although I think I’m a bit more ideologically conservative than you are
God bless! :>)
