I apologize for the vanity, but was concerned over the several interruptions that occurred this morning on F&F. Tom Ridge was being interviewed on the controversy behind raising the "threat level" in 2004...it being suggested that this was done to up Bush's points. Right when it got to that area of the discussion, a Geico commercial cut it right off. As soon as the commercial was finished, it went back to the set, where the interview was still going...obviously, the interruption was not known by the anchor giving the interview - because not 10 seconds later, another commercial interrupted the interview & again went back to the F&F set & they were still talking. Then it happened a third time!
Now we all know when a commercial break is expected...the interview is paused, & resumed after commercial break. Now, forgive me FReepers if I appear paranoid, but these anchors had no idea that commercials were interrupting them. And as far as I know, 2 of the commercials were the ones included in the Glenn Beck boycott.
I know that the FNC stands strong against tyranny, or do they? I believe they do...so, now I'm wondering if my comcast cable company did this intentionally, or if I am reading too much into it. Needless to say, everything important that needed to be heard by Tom Ridge's comments, were not heard....
Just wondering....
I apologize for not being able to get the link to work...
It happened here too. It was weird. I have WOW.
Then I don’t think I’m being paranoid!
Thanks for the relief!
Happened on Cable Vision also.
Tom Ridge, another RINO clown, the commercials were better use of the time then having this fraud on.
So, do we focus our attention on the FNC...are they caving? Not the anchors, but the company itself?
My heart would break if this happens...
Also happened here - we have Comcast. A commercial cut him (Ridge) off as soon as he started to explain
I suspect that it is innocent. At weekends, the second team (taxi squad) of technicians is running the show. At Holiday weekends, it is often the third team (those on IR).
No, they stand strong for making money.
Which comment. The one where he said he was pressured to raise the threat level or the latter one where he claimed he said no such thing?

I’m referring to the possiblity that the FNC’s integrity might have been compromised...I stated that I don’t believe it has been, but I am left to wonder...
Thank you, that means the world to me...no sarc intended.
Sure, I know they do whatever it takes to make the bottom dollar, but they’ve made their money by standing their ground on the issues.
Saw some of this type of thing on NFL Network last night and have seen it before at times. Believe its when some preset computerized commercial insert system either goes awry or, sometimes when there is live breaking news it can get messy until they apparently shut the system down. With it happening last night and again today, wonder if the system isn’t centralized and the clock is off?
Somebody programmed the commercial breaks wrong, and it’s impossible to know if it was intentional or not.
“Not the anchors, but the company itself?”
perhaps a lefty in the control room....I’m only guessing, but I think what is actually outward bound could easily be over-ridden downstream from the producer/whoever who sits there saying “take” 2,3,5,7,whatever....
It's Saturday. It's a holiday weekend. Fox News has given their senior support staff, senior anchors and APPARENTLY their senior engineering staff the weekend off. So what you see is simply On The Job Training for Fox News Engineers.
But of course you need to keep in mind that quote by the famous Intel founder Andy Grove: "Only the paranoid survive". And the equally valid but anonymous (AFAIK) quote: "Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean people aren't really out to get me".
Thats a possibility, but it just seemed strange that instead of staying on the commercial break, it kept flashing back to the set of F&F between each commercial for about 5-10 seconds...
It happened here also. We have Suddenlink cable. I don’t think F&F ever knew what was going on.
Happened here too on Time Warner Cable.
You beat me to it. See my post #19.
None dare call it conspiracy.
Same thing happened here. I was kind of surprised none of the hosts mentioned the interruptions. I guess they didn’t know it was happening

That is why it was so strange to me, because the hosts did not know they were being interrupted...pretty out of the norm for the FNC.
This is because everybody who is anybody on TV is on the beach at Waikiki or Nassau at this moment. Glitches are going to occur, so don't read anything sinister into it.
That being said, about a year ago Freepers were commenting on the three seconds-or-so freeze-ups on the Fox shows.....although a little less frequently than before. I suppose most people know the problem still continues. Maybe this has something to do with the satellite feed or something. If anyone knows what THIS particular problem is caused by, please let us know. Thanks,
Leni
The weekend crews (especially on a holiday weekend) tend to be less experienced and you find a lot more mistakes. That may or may not explain what happened.

I do like your thinking!
Won’t hurt to send F&F an email.
Ridge is flogging his book.
it could have been a hard break,
FNC weekend crew are generally idiots in front and behind the camera.
Maybe someone in the control room doesn’t agree with Fox’s stand.
IR? Go easy on me no coffee yet...
To all....someone post a transcript....thanks...
I’m relieved to know that others took notice of this! It was just very strange...after years of being an avid FNC fan I have never seen it happen before...
Kinda like having the Detroit Lions play for the Steelers in last year's Super Bowl.
Actually, no, they weren’t better. It’s better know what the enemy is actually saying. That’s how we get to expose these people for who they are—by their own words. On video, so they can’t claim the transcripts were doctored.
I was wondering the same...
I sent an email before show even ended...
All TV stations/networks are now run by automation systems and sometimes those systems go absolutely stupid and start rolling stuff for no reason.
This sounds to me like one of the two scenarios...
1. The automation went haywire either through technical difficulties or being misprogramed by the operator. Most likely scenario, they forgot to put in a manual start for that break and when the countdown on the "dummy time" (they have to put in dummy times when generating automation runs for live shows in order to get the in and out times of the shows to jive with the official log) hit zero it rolled. In that situation the operator generally lets the first spot blow by and put a manual stop on the end-it is "less noticible" to the audience then dumping out of a commercial and then recovers the system to get it back on track.
2. They took down the automation to repair something and when they were going back to it the operator had the wrong line called up when he/she restarted the system.
3. The "Pepsi Syndrome"-The operator accidentally dropped something on the switcher or the "paddle" and it hit the initiate button. It is a very rare occurrence but it does happen.
As to the anchor "not noticing" that is an easy explanation. They do not route the on air feed into the studio, only the output of the production control room. They do not watch the commercials while in the breaks, they either are seeing black (nothing) or something on preview that they need to see (like a live feed of a fire or something).
In all of these events the person who is sitting in their BOC has to write the incident up and is more then likely gonna get his or her butt kicked on Tuesday.
Sorry, I meant three scenarios...PIMF
Need....more....coffee....
Over the years I’ve noticed that on weekends and especially on holiday weekends there appears to be more ‘’glitches’’ in programing than during the week. I think there are recent hires getting their feet wet. Same thing happens on radio when for no apparent reason dead air is present and when the programing comes back the talking heads were not aware that they were talking to a void( something like when MSNBC broadcasts and nobody is out there to listen)
most likely it was a issue generating from FOX broadcasting itself if multiple locales experinced the same issue... someone flip to comercial feed to early...realised it corrected it... then went to commerical anyway.. sounds like a control room screw up... doubt it is anything nefarious.
Even with two hearing aids, Tom Ridge is still politically deaf.
At Homeland Security(I hate that name—why isn’t it National Security? A “homeland” implies colonies somewhere else) we have had three losers in leadership:
Tom “What?” Ridge
Michael “What Border?” Skeletor Chertoff
Janet “Every Right winger is a Terrorist” Napolitano.
God help us!
What was Ridge’s explanation of the controversy and did you get to see it in the interview?
Thank you for the heads up with that in depth information! I was sitting here this morning with conspiracy theories running through my head like you wouldn’t believe:
1) Who can retask a satellite?
2) If FNC won’t cave, who can infiltrate the company?
3) Are these commercial showings under control nationally, or locally?
...etc.
Thanks!
What was Ridges explanation of the controversy and did you get to see it in the interview?
##########
No, it was over by the time all the commercial interruptions stopped. They were wrapping it up, & I never heard his explanation!
LOL!
Well stated!
Well, I guess I will give comcast a reprieve then...I was going to call & give them holy hell this morning.
Looks “fishy”, send it to “zero’s” snitch site.
Just before the ads took over the interview, I did hear him say that he wished people would read his comments in context, rather than the blurb on the book or what other people said that he wrote. I don’t want to buy his book, so thanks to the ads, I don’t know what he actually wrote in context, and if reading it in context changes the meaning significantly. He did look uncomfortable, though, I thought.
