At the Children's Research Lab at the University of Texas, a database is kept on thousands of families in the Austin area who have volunteered to be available for scholarly research. In 2006 Birgitte Vittrup recruited from the database about a hundred families, all of whom were Caucasian with a child 5 to 7 years old.
The goal of Vittrup's study was to learn if typical children's videos with multicultural storylines have any beneficial effect on children's racial attitudes. Her first step was to give the children a Racial Attitude Measure, which asked such questions as:
How many White people are nice? (Almost all) (A lot) (Some) (Not many) (None)
How many Black people are nice? (Almost all) (A lot) (Some) (Not many) (None)
During the test, the descriptive adjective "nice" was replaced with more than 20 other adjectives, like "dishonest," "pretty," "curious," and "snobby."

I am posting this since I was shocked to see this cover at my grocery store:
His Grandmomma was.
How stupid can you get? I’m willing to bet that most if not all kids don’t even see color. They just see who they want to play with......
Original sin from the left.
Only if your baby is born into a family that has ANY contact with ANY Conservative or Republican Family member.
Almost all children are oblivious to skin color.
Is my baby racist?
Hell no, but the “President” sure is!
I saw this headline earlier today at the grocery store and had to look twice to make sure that it wasn’t either a spoof or I was going blind. Apparently being born white automatically makes you a racist. Being born liberal automatically makes you a dumbass.
Get those kids in re-education camps pronto!
Complete nonsense-—my little boy has friends of all backgrounds-—Indian, black, and Asian.
“scholarly research”
This is seriously messed up (what is their point? well, I know what their point is and that is what is messed up).
No doubt a bunch of liberals from Austin who probably wanted their babies to test as racists to show that all unenlightened people are. Sick. But not surprising from that area.
So now these are just "vague notions" rather than real cultural values?! Damn these people. Damn them. And what racial differences are parents supposed to call attention to? Wouldn't doing so would in and of itself be racist? What ARE racial differences anyway? How do I know upon seeing a Hispanic for the first time that he even speaks Spanish, or is Mormon, or prefers Chinese food to Mexican? Folks, bone up. Stop being afraid and start talking down to those who see race as determinate for life.
Hate crime in the womb!
However, we're talking Austin, the liberal haven of Texas, so this could be true.
Actually children, even young children are not oblivious to skin color. My black 1 and 1/2 year old used to point at other black children running around the playground and call them “Annies” which was her name.
“The term “racism” is a Marxist invention. “
Worth repeating.
Why do we let the left make the game rules?
Not surprising; kids are very consious of differences. Its what they are taught to make of those differences that shapes them. Present overly race consious school programs tend to make kids think racially.
Great post!
>> Is Your Baby Racist? Exploring The Roots of Discrimination.
That’s one loaded title.
Beautiful baby, but why feature a Caucasian? Could they not find a beautiful black child? Perhaps Newsweek’s discriminating.
LOL, that reminds me---when my girls were little they used to refer to kids by what they were wearing. One day they told me we should have another baby--a "yellow baby" because they had been playing with a baby in a yellow sleeper.
Sometimes they'd say "Mom, look at that little black girl" or "little white boy", but it was only in relation to their clothing. More often than not, it was "that purple girl" or the "green boy".
This absolutely disgust me - especially since my FORMER best friend just told me this week that since I’m not in love with the Chosen One that it has made her realize that I hate black people....I was floored....then I just emailed her back and told her to never, ever contact me again (after a 33-year friendship) either by email or phone as I have absolutely nothing to say to her.....I am furious!!! To think that this woman as been a republican/conservative in the 33 years I’ve known her and now because she’s drank the KoolAid then I’m a racist because I can’t stand this POS....
I just posted this on my blog. Good Lord, what a barfer..
Just another example of what obsessive racists these leftists are. They absolutely refuse to let people simply be who they are. These are the folks who brought us hyphenated-Americans, and prefer “celebrating diversity” to the glory of the American “melting pot”. If children weren’t constantly hounded about race it would never occur to them that it was an issue to be considered. I am SICK of the left chanting that I must hyphenate my American brethren. I truly judge people by the content of their character and NOT by the color of their skin as these hypocrites do.
I need more. Do you have a reference for this? I’m teaching To Kill a Mockingbird to my seniors. We are watching Scottsboro: An American Tragedy and I have to discredit the Communist Party after we are done. I have resources from the NAACP, but I would like info on the term “racist”. Thanks!
No, but I think it is in the RED!
Its what they are taught to make of those differences that shapes them.
That is the money quote.
Because Republicans are the Stupid Party.
Well put..
Gee...with titles like these, its hard to understand how Newsweek is losing $$—Not.
Did this brilliant researcher consider the possibility that these five to seven year olds based their answers on personal experience? Kids that age are pretty honest, often embarrassingly so.
And why didn't this researcher also study the responses of races other than Caucasian? I think that's correct, but didn't read this entire article of nonsense and don't plan to read it all.
Isn’t it journalistic professionalism at it’s best when the actual study that was done used children 5 to 7 years old
for the study, yet they use a 1-2 year old photo on the cover. I am just glad that there was no attempt on the magazine’s part to impart their own slant on the study.
Sounds like someone could use some time in a re-education camp! :)
QFT Bump.
Its good they are testing only Caucasians...because we all know its those lousy Caucasians who tend to be racist (unless of coarse they are "liberal"). And we should all keep reminding them how racist they are...especially the ones who are not "liberal". </sarcasm>
It takes a Lefty fascist to think this is bad. It's the perfect encapsulation of the attitude of every tribe, family, nation, and baseball team on the face of the earth, and it's completely charitable and normal. What are kids supposed to think? That their own folks are nothing special? (Are they allowed to think that their Mom is prettier than any other woman?)
There have been studies where pictures of attractive and unattractive people were put before infants, and the infants spent their time looking at and smiling at the photos of the more attractive people. People do notice differences, from an early age.
The real question is: Is Newsweek Racist?
Answer: Of course.
People need to just stop buying that Newsweek rag
I hope she never runs for office, assuming she turns out to be conservative, cuz the libs will find your post! I can see the WashPost.com (paper press is dead) headlines “Look at all those Annies- she said”.
Hey if they can ignore tax fraud and highlight a 20-year old thesis, then it could happen.
Well said.
How can you win when you play by their rules?
They only “tested” white kids for racism.
Liberal stupidity is limitless.
I wonder where Birgitte Vittrup was during the Rwandan Genocide.
