Remember folks, ACORN was funded by the BUSH ADMINISTRATION
Vanity | 9-15-09 | Dangus

A lot of Republicans are in a foamy rage against the grass roots, whom they feel failed to be adequately supportive of the Bush administration, helping the Democrats take over Congress in 2006. A lot are showing up on Free Republic making comments to the effect that Obama's communist regime is what we get when we fail to stand up for the Republican Party. But the fact is that President Obama was merely an employee of sorts of ACORN. President Bush was the one who funded it with millions of dollars of taxpayer funds. President Bush's justice department broke banks' arms to force them to lend money to Alt-A and subprime lenders, ruling that failure to provide equal loan access to illegal alien day laborers at the same rate they gave loans to well-establishd, middle-class, financially sound Americans they would prosecuted for discrimination on the basis of national origin.

The Bush administration's EPA gave ACORN $100,000 for ACORN's Louisiana Environmental Justice Project in 2004. President Bush's Department Housing and Urban Development $8.2 million from 2003 to 2006, and another $1.6 million to other affiliates since 2003. Even the Justice Department gave NYC's ACORN office $136,000.

President Bush's rabid fixation on growing "civil-rights" organizations led directly to the housing boom and burst, as millions of "upside-down" home owners had no money put into their homes, and no identity, so they lost nothing when walking away from their loans as soon as they went under.

President Obama is a radical unlike any ever elected President, but the answer is not to simply vote Republican. Vote conservative. If that means voting Republican, great: there are many conservatives in Congress who deserve re-election. But that doesn't mean voting for liberal Republicans like former Rep. Simmons, running for Senate in Connecticut, Rep. Castle, running for Senate in Delaware, or Rep. Kirk, running for Senate in Illinois. The surest way to destroy America is to settle for Republican socialists, believing that they are more electable than conservatives. All that accomplishes is pushing the center hard to the left, discrediting conservatism, and giving the radical left the cover of "bipartisanship."

Let’s impeach Bush now. No, wait. Nevermind. Oh, by the way, just because the sneaky little b@stard dimocRATS snuck in earmarks into bills that Bush signed doesn’t mean that Bush was intentionally or knowingly funding ACORN.

The problem with politics is often about getting done as much as you can, while giving up as little as you can. I don’t care WHO we elect, they will sometimes have to make concessions. I don’t like it, but it’s not ever going to change.

Yes, Bush sucked for sending (or allowing congress to send) millions in funds to ACORN.

Now Obama wants to send BILLIONS in funds to ACORN, so he sucks hundreds of times worse.

Just like the "bailout" business. Moderate Republicans suck, but the Democrats suck worse, by orders of magnitude.

Sucks being us.

>> So what? Bush W was a Connecticut Liberal! no surprise here. <<

Read the article. The “So what” was not to put another Connecticut liberal (Rep Simmons) in the US Senate. Because you know it’ll take one term to make him the Republican leader of the Senate Judiciary Committee

While I agree, McCain was a terrible candidate, do you think we would have gotten a different result if you had voted 3rd party?

Any Republican that would call for an accounting for ACORN,
prior to these brave journalists’ videos,

would have been hounded as a racist by the racers on the left.

ACORN was founded in 1970 by Wade Rathke and Gary Delgado.

Doesn’t matter, ACORN needs to go. And did Bush’s campaign pay over $800,000 to ACORN like Obama did?

I’m no fan of Bush but this adminstration is up their eyeballs in the ACORN stuff.

There is a major component of the GOP who have a hard time seeing individuals and organizations on the left for what they really are. In the name of comity or “bipartisanship”, they try to get along with them, meet them “halfway”. The Bushes are prime examples of this. I used to think W was more clear-eyed than his father but not anymore.

Pleeeeaase! Like he could have done ANY thing about this. WE CAN'T because we'd be labeled racist. What do yah THINK they'd have said against W?

Get real....we all know this all started because it was all about getting everyone a chance to own their own house--which WAS a good thing, until the Dems (Dodd & Frank) actively ignored the Bush Administration when they warned them that Fannie & Freddie needed regulating or they'd go under.

Another nice gesture (home ownership) by W that went sour because of the Dems leadership of it.

Acorn and their ilk are masters at working the system and getting government funding.

This is similar to the Annenburg deal. Mention it and they’ll always say, Annenburg was a Republican. Oh yes he was. He wasn’t the one handing out the money, though, being as he was dead, Ayers and Obama were.

So the question isn’t who funded them not knowing who they were, the question is who funded them knowing who they were.

Obama is more than “an employee of sorts” of Acorn. He was their original trainer, he was their lawyer, he ran interference for them, he paid them big bucks to help with his own campaigns, and now that he’s president he gave them, not a hundred grand, not a million, but $8 billion dollars.

They and Obama have done a good job of staying under the radar and working the system. Now that they are exposed now, what do we do about it? The logic of this piece is that since they got away with it before they have to continue to get away with it. Sorry, not buying. O and Acorn are joined at the hip. When O said he was a “community organizer” it would be nice if a few more people had asked what that meant. It means you are a scam artist.

yes, however the funding was slated to multiple many, many times up to $8 BILLION DOLLARS.

It was only $3 Million.

You have a very valid and scary point. I did read the article and was commenting on Bush as we got to know him his actions were in line with the Scumbag LBJ
