House Votes to Discipline Wilson for Outburst
Fox News ^ | September 15, 2009 | steelers6

House Votes to Discipline Wilson for Outburst The House of Representatives, on the heels of an impassioned and lively debate, voted Tuesday to formally admonish Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., for accusing the president of lying during a joint session of Congress a week ago. The vote was 240-179. Five lawmakers voted "present." Ahead of the tally, lawmakers hurled an arsenal of accusations at each other over the issue, with Republicans calling the effort a "partisan stunt" and Democrats stepping up their condemnation of Wilson's original offense. The decision to punish him on the floor of the House was made even though Wilson apologized directly to the White House after President Obama's speech Wednesday night. Wilson also issued a written statement expressing regret. Wilson spoke before the vote Tuesday, saying he'd done enough and it's time to "move forward." "There are far more important issues facing this nation than what we're addressing right now," Wilson said on the floor of the House. "(President Obama) graciously accepted my apology and the issue is over." He told FOX News afterward that he thought "political games were played." "I believe today was a low day," he said. "This truly was a game of no meaning." House Minority Leader John Boehner called it a "partisan stunt" and a "sad day for the House of Representatives." But House Democratic leaders wanted further action taken. Wilson shouted, "You lie," after Obama claimed in his joint address to Congress that his health care reform plan would not cover illegal immigrants. It is against House rules to call the president a "liar" or accuse him of "lying" when the House is in session.

Joe should take the written notification of censure and have it very nicely framed and hang it on his office wall. It’s his badge of courage. I hope it serves as a challenge and an inspiration to other conservative legislators to stand up to liberal lies and deceit.

Meanwhile, Tax Cheat Charlie Rangel gets to keep his position on the committee that writes the tax laws for the rest of us to follow.

And Nancy - the Jerk DID lie. And Joe Wilson probably had had enough of his accusations that his constituents were scaremongering liars as well, and was only voicing what millions of good Americans were saying in their living rooms.

I assume that is my congressman Ike Skelton, a Democrat, who voted present. He is starting to remember he represents a conservative district. His vote in favor of cap and trade as well as his failure to hold any sort of public forums during the recess have really hurt him here in Missouri.

I think for the first time in a long time he is going to have real Republican opposition. My husband went to a meeting this morning in which some big donors to Skelton are talking of throwing their support elsewhere, namely Bill Stouffer.

Technically the House was not in normal session, so the normal house rules don’t apply. At least that’s what I was hearing from Mark Levin last night.

And he also technically did not call Obama a ‘liar’. He said “You lie”. Not “You’re a Liar” or “You Liar”. Now you could say by implication he called him a liar because in order for “You Lie” to be true, the person that is addressed would be a liar. But he did not directly call him a ‘liar’.

It’s all such a joke. For future reference all Republicans please us the following phrases:

“That’s not true!”

“Marxist!”

“Socialist!”

“You are not telling the truth!”

“You are destroying the country!”

And so forth.

I sent the following letter to Steny Hoyer”

Dear Congressman Hoyer,

Rising unemployment, an economy that is “delicate” at best, a national debt that has quadrupled in seven months and surpasses ALL of the spending of every previous administration going back to President Washington, war in foreign countries, a debate over healthcare that has divided this country and the most important thing you pinheads have on your miniscule minds is political retributuion against a colleague?? For one brief, shining moment, one member of the Congress represented the American people and “called the president out” for his lies, just as the president stated he would call out those who misrepresented his “healthscare” mess.

And you want him to apologize to the Congress after he’s already apologized to the president!!??? Eat dirt!! Where is the apology from Democrats who disgraced the same chamber in 2005 when they booed President Bush during his State of the Union speech??

The very political chicanery you and Speaker Pelosi enacted today on the House floor is exactly why this Congress is considered to be the worst in U.S. history and is why most Americans hold the Congress in such contempt that used car salespeople are held in higher regard. Where is YOUR apology for wasting taxpayer money for this nonsense?? In fact, I want that money repaid to the American people. In light of everything else going on in the world, if this was the most important thing you had to do, ADJOURN!! Go home and stay home until you can focus appropriately on the issues facing this country and deal with them as adults instead of acting like children.

You people are a disgrace to the Congress, a disgrace to the taxpayers who own this government and a disgrace to America. You people behave so much like morons you’re giving real morons a bad name!!

Did anyone - anyone - state that the dems booed Bush? Why are these Republicans always on defense. Joe should have said “I have already apologized. So why haven’t the entire democratic members of Congress line up and come forward to apologize to President Bush for booing him. Why am I being singled out?”

This is pure fascist parliamentary technique. They admonish Wilson ( truly a hero) because he pointed to the truth in the only way he could and got that message out to America. That is his TRUE sin.He told America what the MSM and our pretend president had not.

And not only that, what Joe had pointed out was very quietly changed in the Senate Health Care Bill: Non citizens will not be covered ( so Barak Hussein must make illegal aliens citizens, as he likely will.)

Talk about egg on their faces! Who is dirty now? Obama and the MSM and the entire Dem party. Truth is so rare these days, and so very powerful when it gets into the hands of Americans.Joe is the only one in the Republican party with the back bone to have done what was necessary.

One American patriot, standing alone is worth more that the rest of Congress and the entire executive branch.

Thats what this episode has proven to me , and to all of America, IMHO.

So we just have to keep at this task, and encourage every nascent Joe Wilson in Congress, that if they want to keep their respective seats, they better become Joe Wilson clones!!!!!!!

AMERICA DEMANDS IT!

The Republicans are worried that we can’t pay for insuring an additional 10 million children. They sure don’t care about finding $200 billion to fight the illegal war in Iraq. Where you going to get that money. You gonna tell us lies like you’re telling us today? Is that how you’re going to fund the war. You don’t have enough money to fund the war or children. But you’re going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the President’s amusement.

[...] But the President Bush’s statements about children’s health shouldn’t be taken any more seriously than his lies about the war in Iraq. The truth is that Bush just likes to blow things up in Iraq, in the United States, and in Congress.

Both quotes were on the floor of the House made by Congressasshole Pete Stark of California. Stark has never apologized to anybody. Stark voted to discipline Wilson.

This is the America we are living in.

I really hate to say it but it serves him right. He should be admonished. Not for pointing out the fact that baraq O bamah, as his father's (satan's) son, is a liar but because he apologized for speaking the truth.

The truth needs no defense.

That said if I were Wilson I would recant my apology and form a coalition to expose everything about the antichrist I could find.
But then that's probably why I'm not an elected official now isn't it?.... That and the fact that I have never run for office. =)

I'm frankly shocked that more republicans didn't vote for the resolution, from the fake outrage I heard from all the RINO's after the episode. But the outpouring of support for Joe has made them a little "wiser," apparently.

Even more shocked at the number of Democrats who voted against it. Could they fear the electorate - who is showing renewed respect for a congressman with B@11s?
