Camille Paglia Provides Much-Needed Intellectual Cred for Birthers (Going Mainstream?)
The Village Voice ^ | September 17, 2009 | Roy Edroso

Posted on 09/17/2009 12:18:33 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

And you thought birtherism was just for hillbillies and Republicans! David Weigel heard Camille Paglia on NPR yesterday, where the author of Sexual Personae and UArts professor told a no doubt astonished latte-drinking audience that "there are legitimate questions about the documentation of Obama's birth certificate. I'm sorry, I've been following this closely from the start." Indeed she has; we noticed her railing on the topic as far back as November ("simple questions about the certificate were never resolved to my satisfaction"). Now that they've got a genuine intellectual on board, the birthers just need a popular entertainer to carry their message to the sheeple. Come on, Toby Keith, what are you waiting for?

Yes, the ObamaBots on the left and the Obama Enablers on the neo-right are scared.

Camilie Paglia is a liberal, but not afraid to point out when a lib is “peeing on the carpet”. She had many critical things to say about the Clinton’s over the years.

With Paglia raising these questions...the ones who really look foolish are the neo-right (Ingraham, Coulter, Beck) who are smiting the Obama Birth question. I question everything these Obama Enablers say now...because they are aiding and abetting Obama’s quite probablt illegal holding of office

Camille Paglia is an intellectually honest liberal. She has been a devoted Obamite from the start

Which is why I question either her intellect or her honesty. Intellectual honesty and devotion to Obama are polar opposites like matter and anti-matter. I'm waiting for her head to explode.

No doubt she’ll be tarred and feathered in the libtard press for betraying their heretofore successful campaign to portray birthers as illogical and uneducated. At the very least she’ll be called a racist.

Paglia is definitely in a class by herself. A true intellectual despite liberal positions and some personal idiosyncrasies about which the less said the better.
Offhand I can’t think of another left-leaning thinker who actually thinks, and of whom one could say, “sometimes crazy — but never stupid.”
Of course, I may have missed a column somewhere... :D
But if I had to get stuck on a desert island with a queer old lib, she’s the only one I’d prefer over a volleyball.

Camille Paglia is a bit of a contrarian. She is brilliant, though, one of the few lefties I actually enjoy reading. I think the thing that keeps her in the lefty category is the fact that being a very “out” lesbian is part of her public person and she was considered somewhat of a gay activist (although she has criticisms for them, too).

This is very bad news for Obama. Camille Paglia is a lesbian atheist Democrat,
so she cannot be dismissed as some bitter right-winger. Paglia is also a fearless genius.

Why would a lesbian atheist Democrat question Obama’s eligibility?

Because Camille Paglia has a genuinely open mind, and she actually loves her country. Strange for a Democrat, I know, but true nonetheless.

It would be the greatest voter fraud in human history and several top Dems would have to had been in on it.

Yes, I think that's why they're holding the line on this. But that's a classic criminal technique: get other people involved with you (even if it was just by ignoring obvious discrepancies, for example) and you've got built-in protection.

Excellent post. Well said and written. You’re correct that it is up to the states to ensure that their elections are legitimate. I’ve done some lengthy research on Texas election code that I plan to post soon that proves the Texas Democratic Party violated election law in nominating Barack Obama. I’m waiting for the legal opinion of two people before posting it. I’m hopeful it can be used as the basis of a lawsuit against the TDP and the SOS of Texas.

He doesn’t need to have a legal eligibility fraud in order to have problems: if his birth certificate says either that his father was “unknown,” or that his birth name is not Barack 0bama, it betrays him as a poseur.

I agree. I've thought ever since the Obambi campaign said there was "something embarassinig" on his birth certificate that it wasn't his birthplace. Its something with his name "Che Fidel Marx Dunham" perhaps or that Frank Marshall Davis is the name listed as the father. Not a big deal because you can't pick your parents (and can only change your name after the fact) but it certainly damages the mythology he has so carefully crafted. He may be an incompetent huckster, but he's an eligible incompetent huckster.

But another father listed would definitely blow the lid off a “Barack Obama myth”. That would do him some serious political damage, IMHO.

Agreed. I'll add: any of the hidden documents WILL blow 0b0z0's myth out of the water and most likely will cost him the Presidency.

Why am I so sure without citing any documents or pictures? That’s precisely the reason, because they are HIDDEN! I don’t consider the “sealed” BS acceptable.

Just think ONLY of 0b0z0's college records. They should contain info about any or all of the following:

- Did he graduate at all? If he did, what was the "brilliant" GPA(s)?

- Did he apply as a foreign student? Affirmative action? Who paid for his education and on what basis?

- Any disciplinary actions against him? What offenses? Was he kicked out of a school? If so, why? Did he drop out of any school?

The college records alone could prove that 0b0z0 is not even a naturalized American citizen. They will certainly prove that his education was garbage or non-existent. They will blow the MSM's "brilliant" aura -bestowed on a ghost called 0b0z0 and down our throats- to smithereens.

That was just one set of records out of many and I repeat, because they are HIDDEN, I'm sure that disaster will strike 0b0z0, his cabal aka government and the Left in general if any of these records see the light.

This is why I'm a ghoster, NOT A BIRTHER!

Hard to take them seriously on some of the issues they raise...when they smite and harangue those who bring up the Obama Birth issue.

Oustide of Rusty Humphries and Bill Cunningham....the rest of the conservative [sic] media have been Obama Enablers

We should always skeptical about long-range never-met-the-patient psychiatric diagnosis -- yet --- (sigh) "Dreams From my Father": taken at face value, there's plenty there that fairly shouts "attachment disorder."

And, if you know anything about attachment disorder: that's scary.

I pray for Barack Obama every day since I am convinced that God wants him to "be saved, and come to a knowledge of the truth." I pray for him to be saved; and I pray for his power to be restrained.

You are absolutely correct. There are more unknowns than knowns about him and it is very deliberate. I'm still amazed that the media can track down an octogenarian in South America that a then young, unmarried John McCain had a romance with but can't seem to find anyone from Obama's past- much less anything written down anywhere apart from his "memoirs".

No argument there. We wouldn’t be in this situation if the Texas Democratic Party had followed the Texas Election Code. It mandates the one and only way a candidate can be declared ineligible. It allows for the declaration of ineligibility before and after the election.

The Texas Democratic Party didn’t adhere to specific procedures mandated by law. And I’m not speaking of an abstract concept of honoring an oath. Texas Election Code specifically mandates how a candidate’s application to be on the ballot is to be reviewed and approved. It provides no wiggle room.

The Texas Democratic Party broke the law in Texas when they nominated Obama as their candidate for POTUS.

The conservatives you mention are doubtless under orders not to mention the matter.

One day, the restriction will be pulled. If these people can go after people as dangerous as Van Jones and Mark Lloyd and get ACORN de-funded, the time to deal forthrightly with the eligibility issue may be close at hand.

Trouble is, Beck & co. will have to come up with a decent justification for scoffing at the matter at first.

Rush has been playing “CYA,” as he regularly cracks jokes about it but never has had a serious discussion of eligibility, to the best of my knowledge.

I’ve read Paglia’s books and columns for years. There’s no question she has a lively and engaging mind. But she reminds me a lot of the late Sen. Patrick Moynihan whose writings usually made overwhelming sense yet he voted pure party line Democrat. It made some cynical sense in his case since his political survival, and freedom to think and write, depended on it. I don’t see any corollary with Paglia except she’s an academic and maybe she’s protecting her own sinecure.

I've thought this since the beginning, too, for the same reason. What could possibly be embarrassing on a birth certificate? Mom, we already know. His weight, height, thumbprint, footprint or place of birth (if actually in the US) can't be it either. It only really leaves his name or his father's name.

Whatever you think of the ineligibility claims, there is a smoking gun here, as Hurricane Camille agrees: Why was a clearly fraudulent BC offered in the first place? What adult cannot go to a desk or filing cabinet in his house and produce a birth certificate in a few minutes? Despite attempts to equate birthers (I am not one, BTW) with so-called "truthers," the simple fact is that the birthers whole conspiracy could be brought down by producing a single, entirely trivial piece of evidence.

Why isn't it?
