For those of you with young liberal contacts, what have you noticed?

I know quite a few young liberal college kids here in Austin and many of them are just waiting for the next big thing whether it’s American Idol or next block party.

Obamamania was their so-called Woodstock and most will just out grow it or look back and wonder what the hell was I thinking.

However, the 50 something ex-hippies,war protesters,East side black folk and liberal baby-boomers are still enthralled with Obama.

The college kids are extremely disappointed in Oboma. He promised them he'd lower taxes, get rid of useless social programs, and clean up Washington corruption. He's doing the opposite. He lied to them. They're noticing. Instead, he's enslaving them even more and the generations after them. They haven't even started their future jobs yet, and they're already in trillions of dollars in debt. Plus, he's increasing the cost of living to the point where even a college graduate won't be able to pay their own bills without a government hand out.

I know. I have two kids in college now. They hear what the others are saying about Oboma. No one will admit they voted for him. All the Oboma bumper stickers are gone. No Oboma T shirts, either. He "is so gay" these days. "Anti-Oboma" is the newest fad. Actually, T Parties are slowley moving "in."

These kids aren't going to college to become social dependents. They're going to college to get a good job and earn a decent salary. Oboma is destroying that for them.

To understand this phenom, try to envision a wave, gathering power and size as it approaches the shoreline, rising to a peak then crashing on the shore leaving only a retreating grey scum slipping back into the sea...

Once the buildup is over, so is the party. Chalk it up to short attention spans and an inability to deal with issues besides on a very superficial level.

Fads don't last long.
Also, people catch on to New Age fake messiah cults...eventually.
When the land of milk and honey and the promised healings don't appear,
the followers stop attending the weekend seminars.
They don't want to pay the fees or buy the tapes.
He's cried wolf TOO MANY TIMES already and people are no longer
buying the act. Time to switch to karaoke and some different tunes.

-—”I asked her “what exactly needs changing in our country” and I got dead silence, then “gotta run, Dad, talk to you later.” Not once could she tell me what needs changing.”

Out of curiosity, is your daughter starting to come to her senses about Obeyme?

At some point there has to be some capitulation among the young, right?

Every time I have to struggle to resist the urge to flip them off as I drive by...

I honestly don’t know where she stands now. She never brings up news or political issues. And I haven’t brought it up because the chance of civil discourse is pretty slim. Like somebody said earlier on the thread, the kids voted for him because he was the shiny new bauble.

My sister and wife followed the same pattern — pretty liberal until their mid to late 20s when they realized how hard they were working and such a large chunk of their labor was going to others who didn’t work. I suspect the same thing will happen here, but it may take another few years (she’s 23 now).

Ah, well best of luck to you (with your daughter)!! If Obeyme screws up so badly, he’ll JADE all these young fools into some sense of reality.

The youth, for being rebellious, love trends. If Obama becomes a joke and has poll ratings in the 30-39 range, they'll bail on him. Once it becomes cool to make fun of Obama (as in the Obama-Joker posters), they'll drop him fast.

A trend I've been noticing is the rise of libertarianism. A lot of young people don't like the conservative label because it makes them sound like, well...

Libertarianism seems more revolutionary, I suppose, and they can more easily combine it with hedonism. :)
