If you are in California, it sucks. .308 difficult and expensive. Nearly $50 per box 20.

Got lucky and found some at Walmart for $17/Winchester. Probably won’t see that again.

I have been in other states and .308 is difficult there as well. I don’t get it.

I go to the range and everyone on the line is shooting .223/5.56 and I mean everyone. Some guys have cases of the stuff and fire away. They have two sometimes 3 .223/5.56 configurations and just keep unloading.

I would think those would be in shortage. But, you can find them all day long and the prices are reasonable.

ditto .270 and .40. Which I just happen to not shoot.

.308 has been near impossible to find all over. You’re right about the .223, I have seen cases of it stacked up in gunshops in PA, NJ and DE. Not imported surplus crap either, Remington UMC loads at about $.50 a round.

This person is simply trying to justify the recent ammo restrictions passed by the senate and the assembly in CA, the bill is sitting on Ahhhnold’s desk waiting for him to sign it or veto it. I am hoping he will veto because it will never be over ridden, it only passed 18 to 21 in the house and it needs a 2/3 majority to override the veto.

Were the days we'd check the gun stores for .30 carbine and Springfield surplus. Whether we paid $8 or $9 for a 100 depended on how far we had to drive to buy it.

Now, the price for 32/40 today?

We’ve got a small hunting and fishing supply store here in Northern Wyoming, and somehow they have been able to keep a relatively good supply of ammo on their shelves. I’ve been stocking up on Winchester white box .308 and I just found a huge display of Hornady .223 both FMJ and SP.

Some stinking praire dog might get to taste some of the SP this weekend. Stinking Commie Praire Dogs!

It is hardly socioeconomic, Guns and ammo are expensive. So what does that mean?

Racism and Hate? Get Real. I don't know anyone and I mean anyone who dislikes another person for their skin color. The hate thing, well, you are the one defining that. But, again, I don't know anyone who hates another human and wants to see harm to come another, much less be the one who perpetuates a violent act against another human being.

I know people who never agree with me and I would never have thought they would buy guns but, buy guns they have and they are stocked.

That is your people, Mother Jones, Barack and the DNC. Your people see something and where they previously had not ever considered buying a gun, they have.

They don't tell me what they see but, they will only say they want to be prepared. For what? I don't think they are being honest or they can't quite put their finger on it.

Trust me, it is everyone.

Maybe you can understand something they had previously thought was not in jeopardy. They fear for their lives, the lives of their family and safety. That's it. Nothing more.

I don't see anyone organizing and besides, who would we organize with? Skin heads? Uh sure? Like I said they are not those kind of people.

Militias? Okay, I see them everywhere. Not.

Patriotism? Please don't make me laugh. They voted for your guy because they believe Barry is going help heal the wounds we have created with other nations and their people. They voted for your guy because he was going to regain the respect of the world and their hope is that we will be seen as a benevolent country and loved.

Please get off your invented high horse and your fake intellect that is shallow as a dry creek bed.

Self Preservation is what you are seeing and we all hope to never engage in the act of defending our liberty or life.

Ever.

try ammunitiontogo.com. Last I looked they had gotten a big shipment in. Still no .380. That’s the hardest to get.

Nah, its fueled by those who do not trust a government that wants to make them subservient to the state rather than exist as a free people.

.223-5.56 was impossible to find last fall and winter. It began to show up again around May- June and now is in great supply in most places.

Almost makes me want to get a .40 or 9mm. But, I bought for my own reasons. A friend is from the school of Army and likes to throw rounds down range. I guess, in the Army, their theory is more rounds down range equals greater percentage of hits.

That may be true and I don’t know.

My style is slow, smooth and placement.

They went through 250+ rounds with varying results, that didn’t make sense. This was their new and fancy AR type. I liked the gun okay but mine felt huskier and that is what I like.

M1A .308 60 rounds, multiple bullseye and groups of 4 inches at 100yrds. I know it could be better but I was using mixed rounds, hadn’t shot in 20 years and first time I used that gun.

Felt good and reminiscent of the M1 Garand I Qualified for marksman 30 years ago.

couple more days at the range and I could really get that down. Unfortunately all the longer ranges are 200 miles away so I won’t have the ability to set on 300, 400, 500 and 600 yrds.

I use to love hitting that plate at the 300 yrd but there ain’t one to be had around here.

The wonderful old 1958 Swiss classic guide to guerilla warfare, Total Resistance, by Major H. von Dach, points out that ammo is usually in shorter supply than weapons. As with all other supplies needed, methods to procure it are mentioned. :)

The book ends with these great closing remarks:

If two enemies fight each other to the last - and this is always the case when an ideology is involved (religion is part of it) - guerrilla warfare and civilian resistance will inevitably break out in the final phase.

The military expert who undervalues or even disregards guerrilla warfare makes a mistake since he does no take into consideration the strength of the heart.

The last, and admittedly, most cruel battle will be fought by civilians. It will be conducted under fear of deportation, of execution, and concentration camps.

We must and will win this battle since each Swiss male and female in particular believe in the innermost part of their hearts - even if they are too shy and sober in everyday life to admit or even to speak about it - in the old and yet very up-to-date saying: "Death rather than slavery!"

Dude! It just galls me that .308 is so limited. There is no one shooting it!

Except me.

"Moat people I know that are stockpiling fear they may have to protect their home and family against enemies, foreign or domestic"

An economic meltdown would be a pretty good reason to need protection.

I really like the 357 Sig round. Those have a lower demand and therefore a bit easier to get these days. And the performance, imo, is superior to everything but the .45. Not to say good 9mm ammo isn’t very effective either.
