BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP -- New Jersey's education commissioner ordered a review after a YouTube video shows school children learning a song celebrating President Barack Obama.

The video shows more than a dozen youngsters at B. Bernice Young Elementary School in Burlington Township. The district said the students were participating in Black History Month in February.

Education Department spokeswoman Kathryn Forsyth said the commissioner has directed the school superintendent to review what happened. Forsyth said the commissioner wants to ensure that students can celebrate Black History Month without "inappropriate partisan politics in the classroom."

Forsyth also said the teacher who directed the song and is not shown in the video retired at the end of the school year.

It’s all well and good to teach students to respect our government and the president. But we all know the liberals would have gone ballistic if anyone had taught kids to sing the praises of George W. Bush. This event crosses the line.

The brownshirts cannot take us over as long as there is YouTube and the rest of the free blogosphere.

Long live the First Amendment and woe to those who would try to fiddle with it.

Tick...tick...tick

Yep.

Damage done for sure. It’s criminal to corrupt young minds that way.

Lets be realistic for a second here. This probably happens 1000 times a year or more across the country. The only reason it was “inappropriate to teach partisan politics” in this case was that they were caught.

“Retired.” “Retired?!!!” So we pay for her feed until she’s 90? I say the parents should file civil suits and move her ass into a dumpster for the rest of her life.

Excellent point. How about Clarence Thomas? Michael Steele? Condi Rice?

Now I understand. This was just a little innocent celebration of black history month last February. And the evvvvvil right wingers sat on it to release now so as to embarrass the Dear Leader during the G-20 meetings.

Only problem with that theory is that the Dear Leader is incapable of embarrassment.

The district said the students were participating in Black History Month in February.

There is so much confusion concerning when this clip was shot. I've read it was in early spring, it was done in June and now Feb/Black History month. Then this morning on Fox n Friends a mom whose kid was in the vid stated that this was an assembly for all the second graders celebrating all kinds of holidays.

I dunno, I've been to many school assemblies in my day and that auditorium seemed mighty quiet, especially if it was full of second graders. looked more like a practice to me.

Imagine the reaction in the media if this song had been about President George Bush? Or Jesus?

New Jersey’s education commissioner ordered a review after a YouTube video shows school children learning a song celebrating President Barack Obama.....

...the commissioner of NJ schools wants to know why other NJ schools are not doing this and why they have not done this sooner. (HUGE Sarc!!!)

That was a practice. Notice how one kid is doing it..then he gets back in line...and it was quiet.

Now the question that should be answered is just how to Charisse Carney Nunes get the tape. Her book was pictured in the video. Also, if they are going to claim that other presidents were honored as they have claimed...I want to know the lyrics for those songs as well. Who wrote the lyrics to the songs that kids sung

direct your questions to:

New Jersey Department of Education, Kathryn Forsyth, 609-292-1126 or 609-341-5295 kathryn.forsyth@doe.state.nj.us

As of this morning the website for the school was still down.

Forsyth said the commissioner wants to ensure that students can celebrate Black History Month without "inappropriate partisan politics in the classroom."

A complete contradiction in terms, but whatever.

Call the school and ask them where we can find the George Bush praise song?

The president of the local parent-teacher organization said she was “numb” when she saw the video.

“What month is White History Month?”

To do it justice, we would need a “White History Decade”, given the inventions, advancements, leaps made in science, medicine, energy, industry, agriculture, the arts, etc, etc, etc. Naturally that wouldn’t be FAIR...you know, like MOST facts are unfair according to the left.
