Comment: absurd decision on Obama makes a mockery of the Nobel peace prize
Times ONline ^ | 10/09/2009 | Times Editors

The award of this year’s Nobel peace prize to President Obama will be met with widespread incredulity, consternation in many capitals and probably deep embarrassment by the President himself.

Rarely has an award had such an obvious political and partisan intent. It was clearly seen by the Norwegian Nobel committee as a way of expressing European gratitude for an end to the Bush Administration, approval for the election of America’s first black president and hope that Washington will honour its promise to re-engage with the world.

To make matters WORSE, CNBC is reporting now that King Ray Ray is going on TV @ 10:30 E to TALK about winning the Nobel.

Dear Leader deserves the Appeasement Price, not a Peace Prize.

I bet when the Nobel committee saw the success of the beer bust scene, where Obama let his closet racism flop out in the sun, the Nobel folks said hey let’s do it for Black Liberation. Rev Wright was unavailable for comment on why Obama and not him won.

Obama probably wonders, "What took so long?"

1938, Neville Chamberlain wins Nobel Peace Price for Ankle Grabbing.

Let’s see. Jimmy Carter, Kofi Anan, Al Gore, Yassir Arafat. Somehow I think the Nobel was a joke long before this.

I can’t believe I woke up this morning to see this (and a tree down in our yard from the storm). This is a joke, right? April fools?

I try to keep my politics to myself at work. But this morning, when I saw that Obama had won the Nobel Peace Prize (it was in a daily briefing of news that my company sends us each morning), I just started laughing uncontrollably.

It was so completely absurd, that I couldn’t help myself. I kept explaining to people why I was laughing, and each time I’d laugh even harder. Most of them thought I was joking until they looked it up.

Obama IS the messiah. He simply SAYS he doesn’t like nuclear weapons, and that somehow means he is a peaceful man. Like nobody before ever thought the world would be safer if nobody had nuclear weapons (as opposed to reality where we know that you will never get RID of the nuclear weapons).

I’m laughing again. I’ve got to stop this.

Obie will not be embarrassed by this. If you thought his nose was already pointed north, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Funny thing is in 1927, his cousin Austen Chamberlain actually did win it for just that.

I know he can't help himself, but he really, REALLY should not get on TV this morning and make a speech about this. He should be embarrassed. I'm sure he'll tell us how this award is not about him and then proceed to talk about himself.

I have a feeling this speech will contain something about taking this ‘new found status and changing the world’..

Actually I think this complicates Obie’s presidency immeasurably.
