Silencing Savage
Washington Times ^ | Jeff Kuhner

Posted on 10/12/2009 7:37:18 PM PDT by thisisthetime

Freedom of speech is under assault. Michael Savage, America's third-most popular radio talk show host, is being assaulted.

Earlier this year, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown's government placed Mr. Savage on a "least wanted" list, banning the fiery conservative from entering the United Kingdom. His name appeared beside those of Islamist extremists (including a Hamas terrorist), Russian skinheads who murdered more than 10 immigrants and neo-Nazi white supremacists. According to British officials, Mr. Savage poses a potential "threat" to public safety by inciting "hatred" and "inter-community violence."

This week the Cambridge Union, one of Britain's most prestigious debating societies, revoked its invitation to have Mr. Savage participate via video link in a panel on political correctness. The society has canceled the Oct. 15 event. In a letter to the radio host, the group cited "numerous legal issues" regarding his participation in the debate.

What possible legal issues could arise from a video conference debate?

Is Britain so far gone that even appearing on closed circuit TV is going to cause legal difficulty?

I would agree with that. Maybe 4th or 5th. Today, I would put it Rush, Beck, and Hannity in that order.

Maybe this was astute of the Cambridge Union anyway. Savage would have cussed them out but good!

This is comedy. Lets have a debate about political correctness and since we are so PC we should only invite like minded people.

Isn’t this like a group of lions debating whether or not they should eat a deer?

Many “can not handle the truth” and Savage is the truth. It hurts to hear the truth.

That really is ironic

Edzackly. What did they have to gain? Nothing.

Pretty liberal if you ask me- they knew that they couldn't argue against him- so they threw the debate.

Good for them, they conceded to a loss. To bad for them, some messages always have a way of getting around.

He is the third. Last ratings I saw for 2009 had it at Rush, Hannity, Savage, Dr Laura and then Beck. Laura Ingraham is sixth in ratings.

Last count Savage says he is 3rd, but Beck says he is third, Levin says Savage is 3rd and he is 4th so where does that leave Beck? Well all that's probably changed by now.

Sad to say, it is true....they will be practicing Sharia Law all over that once proud nation in a few years. It is becoming obvious how the Arab money owns all of England's politicians. Winston Churchill must be turning in his grave.

Britain is so far gone that the NHS performs manslaughter on a daily basis without recrimination...

The society has canceled the Oct. 15 event. In a letter to the radio host, the group cited "numerous legal issues" regarding his participation in the debate.

The phrase "numerous legal issues" suggests to me to "follow the money."

Given that Britain's economy is heavily dependent upon, and entangled with, Muslim oil riches, it is no surprise that Britain is more and more implementing Sharia Law.

This phenomenon, with a leftist (and therefore insane) government on one hand, and Sharia law on the other, will eventually come to a head.

It reminds me of the tea party in Alice in Wonderland, as I watch in wonderment at the disordered minds punishing people for using carbon dioxide in their sodas (to take the place of God to control the climate -- all on a false premise), the lack of common sense in applying the laws of the land, the worship of a dead divorcee, their failed health care system, and more...

...Don’t be picky about the ratings, Beck says he’s third, Limbaughs’ first, bla, bla, woof, woof. OK, so what! I like all the dogs in the pack...(-;)

...Savage is a voice to be deal with. I agree, Bravo!!!
