As much as I disliked Bill Clinton when he was President, I never felt about him the way I feel about the present occupant of that office. I thought Clinton was reckless, shameless, undignified; I never truly thought he would sacrifice his country to the predations of domestic Fascists and international savages.
Bill Clinton was (and remains) mistaken about many things, but he was still undeniably an American - emotionally attached to this land as all Presidents ought to be.
I don't honestly know whether Obama was born on this soil or not, nor will it likely change anything in the short term, but I do know as sure as I breathe that his fundamental attachment lies elsewhere; either to his own personal glory or to that of others whose interests are increasingly at odds with ours.
