As Gov. Paterson and legislative lead ers meet today to tackle a multibil lion-dollar budget shortfall, they should note a new report's warning: New Yorkers are fleeing in droves -- and it's wreaking havoc with the public fisc.

The report, by the Empire Center for New York State Policy, shows that some 1.5 million people left the state between 2000 and 2008 -- including 1.1 million from New York City alone.

I just hope they go to some other liberal hellhole and don’t ruin a conservative state like fleeing californians did.

This is all very well if you retire. But New York is the only place where large numbers of not exceptionally talented people make $200-500K a year.

New Yorkers are fleeing in droves -- and it's wreaking havoc with the public fisc.

It's the highest taxed state in the union. Leftists have been in charge for too long, and the state is dying. The left is running out of other peoples money.
It's a huge welfare state. Every type of left wing loser you can think of heads for NYC, and it's free to live there because of the lefts "social justice" - they screw up their lives, and everyone else becomes enslaved because of it..

Yes. I witnessed their exodus to the south where they began voting the same way that got them into the mess up there. Now they are ruining conservative spots in the south by overwhelming the land and then electing the same type of idiots they ran from, thus recreating New York in the south. It’s almost made me become prejudice toward anybody coming from north of the Mason-Dixon line.

Yes, indeed. They move to the triangel in C and then think, well, I can afford to pay higher taxes to “impove” the way they do things down here in Hicksville. They won’t leave until they have fouled their new nest!

They’re raising the cost of a fishing license from $19 to $29 next season. New York also ends the season on September 30th, making you buy 2 licenses in a year. Add a $10 stamp for each species you want to fish for and I am now considering just sitting on the bank with the diversity crowd, whom the DEC never checks for licenses.

Not to worry, they’ll pass a law making it illegal to leave the state. There, that should take care of the problem.

They will probably chase those who left the state for tax money like they did Rush.

“I just hope they go to some other liberal hellhole and don’t ruin a conservative state “ BINGO.

Lots of the leftists in NYC go to New Jersey. That way, they can keep their jobs and commute. When they retire, they go to Florida.

The more Conservative people Upstate move to Pennsylvania and commute. When they retire, they stay there, or maybe vacation in Florida.

Just like the Mexicans come to America to live the American dream, and then demand to be treated like poor Mexicans! They bring their failed culture with them. The liberals bring their failed policies with them. It lacks common sense.

DAMN Yankees!

I know about Damn Yankees because I went to Abbeyville SC where my ancestors settled in 1760 and went into an antique store run by a lady with a definite Northeast accent. She said people around there call her that. She said there are Yankees and there are DAMN Yankees.

No, the job providing, successful are fleeing New York, leaving only the poor and the leeches. Who have nothing to tax beyond what they are gioven by the bribing demoPoliticians, who are quickly losing anyone they can steal and rob any more money from, to bribe the poor and the leeches into voting them into their offices again and again.

And when NY collapses these self same DemoRats who destroyed NY, will move in land and try to dio them same “good intentions” in other cities, that they haven’t allready infested and are leecing the lifeblood out of.

Hey, I resemble that remark!

Once I get to your state, I will make a beeline for guns and ammo, the the CC license. While in the waiting period, I will join the local republican club.

Trouble is, right now I am in tokyo converting my NYS license to a Japanes one. No guns for the meantime..

But the locals get a kick out of my Reagan tshirts!

This may explain it !

Argumentative anihilation is being sectioned off now as the spirit of Korah shows no sign or redemptive values towards the spirit of Unity and in this the spirit of death has been released do to an unrepentive nature “ yeah “ posture , so strange fire and reproach is their only fruit .

Come away from their tents as Leviathan coils around them as an Adder and poisons their minds for truly they hatch only unworthiness “ yeah “ condemnation the spawn of satan himself .

So fear not my children for I am your Aaron “ yeah ‘ your priest standing in the midst of you as your saving grace and I shall deliver you from their ways as my incense of Unity unites only those true of heart to the Father’s ways and trust in the knowing I Am The Lord of Hosts , King of kings and Lord of lords “ El Shadai “ .

Texas is hot and humid. Hurricanes every year. Oil derricks spew oil all over your house. Joe Lieberman says we have to check the newspapers for pollution index to see if we can let the children out to play.

Just a terrible place to live. Please don’t come here. Don’t mess with Texas!

That's right. The south is a bunch of redneck hicks who want to marry your children to our children at very young ages. You don't want to come down here......please........just tough it out where you're at. In fact, just like the Kool Aid GWB Repbublicans always say: don't abandon, just reform. The northeast NEEDS y'all. LEAVE THE SOUTH AS IT WAS!

Look what has happened to Florida and the Carolinas. Give it another ten years without a change in the trend and it is possible that Georgia falls into the iffy column. The northern suburbs of Atlanta may already be over 50% transplants.

Admittedly, Senator Chambliss is a stuffed shirt and still easily won his run off election, but the democrat should have never been close enough to trigger one.

I think that there should be a large and encompassing discussion in our country about what has happened to many of our cities. What happened. How it happened and who is to blame and can the trends be reversed.

OUr cities have turned into crime infested hellholes. Business have left, and what was once termed white flight is beginning to look like white (and others) self preservation.

A more difficult issue to look at will be why is it when non whites gain power in cities do they deteriorate so much.

Much needed discussion...will it happen?

i doubt seriously that it will ever happen. no matter how many 50s and 60s era housing projects have to be demolished because they’re unlivable, no matter the crime rate and the welfare role, they’ll never look at themselves and accept responsibility for what they did.

if you could prove that inner cities weren’t bush’s doing, they blame reagan. if not him, then nixon. then back to the civil war and slavery, and if you can prove that wasn’t the cause of the current mess, then they’ll go back to the old testament and blame king solomon. when you prove to them that it wasn’t adam and eve’s fault, then they’ll just tell you they believe in evolution.

i agree with ayn rand that the only way to fix liberals is to let them stew in their own juice. they wanna wreck new york - go ahead and wreck it. we’ll keep doing things the right way, and they’ll keep doing whatever it is that they do.

The LAST thing they would ever do is stop and rethink their current strategy.
NO! The obvious thing is make those millionaires stay put, force them to continue earning millions so they can keep on confiscating it!
