Fiorina: No 'brawler' but ready for Boxer
The Washington Times ^ | November 4, 2009 | Joseph Weber

Carly Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard Co. chief executive officer, announced Wednesday she will run for a U.S. Senate seat from California.

The announcement by Mrs. Fiorina, a Republican, ends months of speculation about her plans to challenge Sen. Barbara Boxer, the three-term Democratic incumbent.

"Get ready," Mrs. Fiorina said during a town-hall-style event in Orange County. "I can take a punch, and I can throw a punch. I'm not a brawler, and I'm not a boxer, [but] I can take on Barbara Boxer."

Her campaign so far has played out in quintessential Southern California style. The event was held at a small business named Earth Friendly Products and included a warmup soundtrack that featured the Beach Boys singing "Surfin' USA" and the Ramones' version of "California Sun."

"Carlyfornia Dreamin'" and "CarlyforCal.com" are among Mrs. Fiorina's campaign slogans

The fact that she is psyching herself up probably means that she isn’t as tough as she claims to be. Not with the mud the rats will fling at her.

Bye Bye Boxer. And voting for Obamacare will
make that a reality.

If this is the Carly of HP fame, I would not want her in congress as a (R). She pretty much bankrupted HP, and that was before any crises.

Anyone who understands what Hewlett-Packard used to be will not vote for Fiorina. It doesn’t matter what she says.

Yea, almost. I had similar thoughts. She really screwed up, but Boxer is far worse. Another lesser of two evil votes.

Next you’all need to get rid of Nancy Pelosi.

Darn glad I don’t live in Californicate.

I meant in the primary.
In the final election, the democrats must be defeated, no matter who we have to deal with.

Carley is bright, articulate, and she is a capitalist. But she isn't much else that's Republican. The chief thing she's going to be up against is this (the peak is her first year, the slide to the bottom is the day she left.)

The IT Trade press loved her: first woman to break the glass ceiling and all. Problem was her tenure at HP probably makes it more rather than less difficult for any future women to break it. Kind of a Barack 0bama of Corporate CEO's.

I'd rank her very high and would not touch her with a ten foot pole.

Maybe she plans on blackmailing voters the same way she did with people she didn't like at HP?

It's difficult to come up with someone more evil than Boxer. The California GOP should be proud if this woman wins the primary. NOT!

I'm not sure why she didn't get some sort of Czar position. She would fit right in with the other thugs.

“I’d rank her very high and would not touch her with a ten foot pole.”

.....or two five foot Italians. oops .... no ethnic slur intended... RINOFICATION??... for crying out loud, there are blue dog demcocrats that are more conservative.

Of course she would make a WONDERFUL senator ... she has all the experience and track record one needs ... losing 63% share price in not quite 5 years for HP ... a bit on the weekside for our dirtbag senaturds performance, but I am certain she is up to the task and could reach 80% loss rates in a single term.

Economic advisor to Juan McLoser??? Damn .. birds of a feather flock together.

Her key qualification is that she brings her own money, and will force the Dems to spend theirs fighting her. If a state can elect Arnold, who knows what may happen...
