Official: Fort Hood shooting suspect not dead

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the suspect in the Fort Hood shootings, has not been killed and is in stable condition at a hospital, Lt. Gen. Bob Cone said at a press conference at Fort Hood.

He is in custody at an undisclosed hospital, Cone said.

Col. Ben Danner said that the gunman was shot four times. He said he didn’t know where the man was hit, nor whether all four shots were fired by the same officer.

Cone had earlier said that Hasan was killed in the incident.

Three soldiers taken into custody after the shootings were released, he said. Investigators believe Hasan acted alone.

“Evidence does not suggest this was a terrorist event,” Cone said.

The death toll from the attack remains 12 after another victim died, Cone said.

Jeff Sadosky, a spokesman for U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, said the senator had been told that Hasan was upset about his upcoming deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan.

An AP source said Hasan had received a poor performance evaluation for Army hospital work. Hasan had been a psychiatrist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for six years before being transferred to Fort Hood in July, the Associated Press said, citing military officials in Washington.

The suspect, McCaul said, “took a lot of advanced training in shooting.”

McCaul said he also has been told that Hasan had undergone alcohol counseling.

Hasan, 39, is a U.S. citizen whose parents are Palestinians from the West Bank, according to the Washington Post.

Case in point. When stationed at Ft Richardson a number (koff, koff) of years ago, we had an arty puke rape his 10 Y/O stepdaughter.

A church bud of mine, an MP, had to pull guard duty - he was one (there was only like 3 or 4 guys) the Provost thought he could trust not to light this creep up on their own.

The creep was in an ‘inside’ (no window) cell because the local Commander thought one of the folks on post would share a M-67 with the guy. All windows to the brig were boarded over while the creep was in the locker.

My bud pulled 12 houtr shifts, sat facing the door to the cell block with his 45 in Condition One, in hand. Not fun.

Took two days, but they got the creep on a USAF plane down to Ft Lewis for his GCM.

As for this Muzzie killer, I am willing to bet thay have a shitpotload of folks out at Ft Hood willing and ready to send him to all-agh.

I would expect that he is getting the very best of trauma treatment. The military want that scumbag alive for trial and punishment -- and to squeeze him to see if he is part of a network.

My personal observations have always been that contrary to popular opinion police officers are seldom experts on firearms and the majority of them are not skilled marksmen.

In fairness to them, they do a very difficult job and being a gunfighter is but a remote possibility for most of them. It’s also far easier to stroll around firing at unarmed victims that it would have been for the police officers who had to contend with both being shot at and worried about hitting innocents in the process.
