(CNN) -- An owner of a 7-Eleven convenience store in Fort Hood, Texas, said Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan came in for coffee and hashbrowns most mornings, including the morning he allegedly shot dozens of soldiers.
Surveillance video from the store obtained by CNN shows a man who, according to the store owner, is Hasan at the cashier's counter at about 6:20 a.m. Thursday (7:20 a.m. ET) -- about seven hours before the mass shooting -- carrying a beverage and dressed in traditional Arab garb.
"He looked normal, came in had his hashbrowns and coffee as you see in the surveillance video," the owner told CNN.
Another surveillance video from the store on Tuesday showed the man believed to be Hasan in scrubs.
While the owner said he was too busy to chat with Hasan whom he knows as "Major Nidal" on Thursday, he said that through his brief talks with Hasan he learned the officer's background was Jordanian, though he didn't speak Arabic well. He added that Hasan didn't wear a wedding ring and joked several times on whether the owner knew a bride for him.
Hasan would also ask the owner whether he planned to attend Friday prayers, a mainstay of Islam, to which the owner would say that he was too busy.

How much does anyone want to bet he was taking some kind of prescription drugs for “mental health” reasons? Not only could he get access but he could prescribe drugs to other soldiers...I think he could have been secretly taking something or was openly taking something, usually that ends up how these cases go! But that video image just seems bizarre!

Wow. The store owner certainly got a good deal of information from this guy even though he was “too busy to chat”...I wouldn’t trust him either.
Can you imagine how many soldiers who went to counseling with Hasan must have really gotten screwed over?
This guy held the key to their future and careers. Wonder how many soldiers he got rid of this way.
So many details will be left out because the soldiers will be gagged by the adminstration.

I might take that bet. If he had mental health issues AND he was taking prescription drugs to address them, chances are good this tragedy might not have happened.
Most people with mental illness are not dangerous. Most dangerous people do not have mental health issues.

How many of them can’t own a gun thanks to this goofball? If I recall PTSD was retroactively applied to anyone that wants to purchase a gun, but here we have one of the people that probably ruined many soldiers chances at ever owning a firearm again, and he goes running around shooting people up! He might have been on some kind of psych drugs! I guess maybe we’ll find out soon enough.
According to interviews, a good one on Fox with a retired collegue, this guy was a true jihadist. Openly spoke about American aggressors, agitated with the war, statements to the effect that America shouldn’t be in muslim lands.

That is the fact that haunts me. His victims were not just the ones shot yesterday. He was paid to deal with soldiers who had mental issues. What has he done to them?

I’m sure there are many, many victims in this guy’s wake.
I hope they do investigate this guy’s clients make sure they are okay and weren’t harmed by him. Well, if he had clients at the time of the shooting— I can’t imagine what they are going through right now.
We are fighting terrorism. The terrorists are ALL muslim. NO muslim should be allowed in any branch of our military.

You might be right, chances are he might not have done it but chances are also that he could have been going off meds or something which set him off on a tangent, I guess we will know eventually, but I thought one can’t own a firearm if diagnosed “mentally ill” whatever that might mean, since according to Freud almost everyone fits into that description it just seems another way for the gun grabbers to get their way with the public and the soldiers. IN their perfect world nobody owns a firearm and everyone loves each other. Being able to prescribe drugs means he could have had access to just about anything for mood disorders, but if he felt everyone were insane then he probably felt no remorse in killing anyone, see where this goes, his line of training and thinking would have given him a sense of the futility in caring for life at all, add into the mix, war in the middle east and his religion, maybe he felt no less than anyone else killing people in the middle east, he had to rationalize it somehow...or he just went off his rocker, or always had been but somehow kept it under control for most his life.
There is an old joke, that the difference between the doctors from the inmates in a mental hospital is that the doctors take their meds.
Investigate? Absolutely. All of the records of his clients need to be cleared. This guy had no business diagnosing, recommending, etc.

He makes my point that “western Civilization” or “secularism” or “religion” are going nowhere and appear founded on faulty logic, faulty understanding of human nature, reality and existence. Utopia will not come now or ever and his illusion that he could find it in himself via murder or that he could find it in some cause or that anything has any meaning for that matter was what made him into a jackass and a fool, but he could have used that perspective to persuade himself to do it, though if he had any guts he would have quietly done himself off, why does this pathetic waste of life have to ruin other people’s lives? What can one gain from this? He probably felt sympathy with muslim radicals and therefore could feel a sense of meaning though it hardly seems sane to a balanced perspective, he just couldn’t handle it, maybe he was weak minded, or maybe others made him feel so, like those kids in the “Columbine MAssacre”? Whatever the case may be the notion that he could have worked as a secret agent for Islam, or a double agent like the hijackers on 911, should be investigated, he clearly was in close proximity to the White House for many years, and this reminds me of those sniper guys from a few years ago.

I like the suggestion of boycotting muslim owned stores. IF there are in fact some peaceful muslims, maybe if they take a hit in the pocketbook, they’ll start to take a stand

First heard of the shootings late last night. My first reaction was wondering if the last name was arabic and/or if the shooter was muslim. Call me a bigot I guess, but after so much violence from these folks you become conditioned to expect such things.
If he was being taunted by others he needed to wake up and smell the coffee. YOU CAN NOT have the respect of your military peers when you’re trying to sue to avoid deployment. YOU WILL NOT have respect of your military peers when we are fighting muslims and you go around dressed like the enemy and apologizing for them. Sorry Charlie, you should have quit and moved on. Your rampage against good soldiers PROVED that you and your death-cult religion are the problem.
I hope for his full recovery so that he may face a military court, his victims, and ultimately a rope waiting to strangle the last breath out of him.
