Tough Road Ahead for Dems After Vote Passes
National Review ^ | 11-08-09 | Rich Lowry

Posted on 11/07/2009 9:18:01 PM PST by truthandlife

Listening to the debate on the floor today, it was clear that Democrats considered it a moral and ideological obligation to pass this bill—consequences be damned. The leadership is congratulating itself now—Pelosi is already the greatest speaker of all time apparently—but there's a tough rough ahead in the Senate. Pelosi could lose 39 votes. Reid can't lose any. Passage in the House definitely creates more pressure on Reid to get it done, but the slender margin—despite the size of the Democratic majority in the House and all the arm-twisting and deal-making (what did Cao get?)—has to make Senate moderates even more nervous. There's a long string yet to be played out here, and it's still likely to stretch into next year, by which time Pelosi’s historic accomplishment of Nov. 7 may look foolish.

When “their creator” was passing out morals, the RATS thought he said “orals” and they all got in that line.

I’m a little confused. Will it need 60 votes in the Senate or merely a simple majority of 51?

They passed cap and tax too with more Republican cover only to find a crap storm. Pelosi was afraid to allow the Reps to return home before voting on this.. afraid to let them even read it. But, now.. like signing a contract before you read it.. this turkey has to fly past a whole army of shotguns and howitzers.

We get to study it, and tar the Reps who voted for it with what they have done. We get to tar the Senate with this as they try again to come up with something they think they can pass and then they all have to vote on this crap storm again for real.

In that time, we have to impress the Bluest of Blue stater Representatives that they aren't safe. This isn't just the blue dogs in trouble but every Donkey in the corral.

Well Virginians,

We need to use our McDonnell victory to rally against Warner and Webb. Two Democrats in a Red State.

Webb’s term is up in 2012.

What I am so sick of hearing is how this is going to be oh so good for me (the American people). How everything is going to be so rosy and how rainbows and unicorns are going to fly out of my ass as it rains glitter and hearts. Just shut the hell up and screw me already. Don’t kiss me, don’t whisper sweet nothings, just screw me cause that is all you (Congress) want to do. I am so sick of these people and by God I want them out so bad. Be it by ballot or by bullet, this pack of lying sons of b****es has to go.

We need to get clips of that debate. Specifically, I want the one that tells everyone that veterinarians get their loans forgiven. When asked what the hell this has to do with health care, the Democrat answered: EVER HEAR OF SWINE FLU? It was surreal. That should be our first commercial.

The current Congress reminds me of a Power Puff Girls villain, “cockroach man” — a huge creature really composed of many tiny cockroaches. Each member who voted for this bill is a cockroach. Defeat them individually, then sanitize their breeding grounds — the schools — to prevent a reinfestation.

The RATs and Obama are now emboldened. Everyone here thinks the elections from this past week would indicate they have to back off, but their reaction will be the opposite. Expect cap and trade to be passed soon, to get two major issues into the pipeline.

Screw everyone who decided that the elections in 2008 weren't important enough to show up. This is what you wanted and got. By the time the GOP manages to overtake the RATs, if ever, it may be too late.

who thinks this won't pass on party lines with at leat one republican vote?

We are kidding ourselves. these people don't give one sh#t about us, they care about the pork then can bring home.

americans have voiced their opposition to this crap and they will ram it down our throats regardless.

the only REAL question remaining is, how hard is this going to be to repeal in 2012...

The Peter Schiff/Redistribution Watch Ping. (Washington Bankrupting our Nation by Spending your past, present and future money!)

I watched most of the debate and vote on CSPAN today. What was most interesting was the pro-life amendment the liberals(pro-abortionists) swallowed for the purpose of this massive redistribution bill. I was amazed that was the only holdup for democrats, not even benefits for illegals.

Yep. Sick of POS Webb pretending to be a “moderate” and voting with Reid every single time. Same thing with the POS Warner. Now the battle moves to the Senate where we must win.

Do you really think a Republican Congress will have the 2/3 majority needed to overrided a Veto?

You can't veto anything after you've been impeached.

It doesn’t need overturning because it is not law yet. It still has to get through the senate and all manner of things can happen to it then. Crap and trade was passed last summer by the house and is still floundering. Why is that? Think about it. Dumbocare will likely go the same route.
