"eMeg's Hedge Fund and Poizner's Police"
Hogue News ^ | November 9, 2009 | Eric Hogue

Posted on 11/09/2009 10:53:17 AM PST by hoguenews

Republican gubernatorial candidates Steve Poizner and Meg Whitman are looking forward to a better week, the previous seven-day period featured a bothersome news-cycle highlighting a few fiscal conflicts.

For Poizner it was his use of CHP for security detail while on the campaign trail, and the fact that he WILL receive a paycheck as governor.

For Meg it was a $45 million Charity Foundation's gift to environmentalists, and her $3 million hedge fund in the cayman Islands.

Do they have birth certificates? I mean, heck... They’re getting background checked to death, might as well go for broke and ask to see their birth certificates. ;-)

Hogue hasn’t had time to investigate the birth certificate issue, having joined yesterday.

Why wouldn't an intelligent, successful businesswoman use a Cayman fund to avoid Democrat taxes? This is supposed to be a negative???

I could be wrong, and I hope I am.

If Whitman actually tries to implement her 3 point plan it could set the state back on the right track. She will have to fight every union in the state as well as the lefty media from day one. I don't know if she has the guts for that kind of fight.

Poizner has the 10-10-10 plan and some vague crap about education. Again, he will have to defeat every union in the state to even get started on his agenda. His stand on education is amorphous enough for him to declare victory no matter what happens.

For some reason I keep getting the impression that no matter who wins the governorship of California...we lose.

Your impressions are correct. It’s not about the Governor; it’s about our crappy legislature, which is overwhelmingly Democratic, and their refusal to work with a GOP Governor.

In addition, the special interest groups have a huge place setting at the table, and that is not going to change until we change the make-up of the State Assembly.

I don’t believe it to be a negative, they are not getting personal checks from the foundation. simply nickle to dime profits for the charity. That Meg has $46 million and nly offered $125,000 over 1.5 years...and that she gave $100,000 to an environmentalist organization is the controversial angle for her. Steve’s salary comment is interesting.

Years ago I even gave money to an environmentalist organization before I figured out they don't give a crap about the environment, but are all about blocking growth and fostering socialism.

It’s not about the Governor; it’s about our crappy legislature, which is overwhelmingly Democratic, and their refusal to work with a GOP Governor.

And thanks to the Gerrymandered districts and a gutless state GOP we are stuck with a permanent liberal democrat majority.

I don't know if the GOP realizes that

If the money in the trust was all properly taxed before being diverted to an offshore trust account, and if any monies she receives from the trust directly are declared on her tax filings, then she isn’t in violation of anything that I can think of.
