(D-CO) Bennet willing to sacrifice seat over health vote
Politico ^ | 11/22/2009 | Josh Gerstein

Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) said Sunday that he will vote for landmark health care reform legislation even if it means he will be defeated at the polls next November.

"If you get to the final point and you are a critical vote for health care reform, and every piece of evidence tells you, if you support that bill, you will lose your job, would you cast the vote and lose your job? " CNN's John King asked Bennet on the "State of the Union" program.

"Yes," said Bennet, a former Denver public schools chief who was appointed to the Senate by Colorado's governor when President Barack Obama tapped Ken Salazar to be interior secretary.

King warned Bennet that the video of his vow would be sequestered in the event he is voted out next year.

"All right. That tape will be held -- I hate to tell you that, but that tape will be held right now," the CNN host said.

We all need to start calling this guy what he is, a traitor, willing to overturn the will of the American people to help this coup succeed.

A traitor to our country! Call him what he is!

[Bennet] “....even if it means he will be defeated at the polls next November.”

Methinks you and many of your ilk will be looking for new jobs come November 2010. Bye, commie.

I admire his spunk, if not his voting record.

I think Bennet is dead regardless of how he votes. My Uncle who lives in Elbert CO has told me he belives at least half of the Coloradans who cast their vote for 0bama wishes they could have a do-over. He also tells me Bennet is very unpopular. So yes, Bennet will vote for the 0bama-Pelosi-Ried Care bill as one final way to stick it to the people.

This reminds me of the Democrats who voted for the tax hike and then were promptly removed and the tax hike repealed. What was accomplished? Why don’t they simply poke themselves in the eye with a pointy stick rather make everyone else miserable?

A kamikaze Senator.

No, he'll have a soft landing. A bribe worked properly is legal. There is an extensive political language that has been developed for just this purpose.

I’ve often wished that conservatives had the same devotion to their cause as marxists do.

I would give him credit due to a person true to his convictions, but he is an appointed Senator beholden to the Party Machine to get reelected. All Democrat Senators know the Party will land on them hard if they oppose this bill.

I have an idea.

A simple idea which should destroy this thing once and for all.

SINGLE-PAYER LEGAL CARE

That’s it. Apply the principles of single payer to lawyers.

Rewrite the 2000 page bill by crossing out “doctors” and writing in “lawyers”.

Mandate the maximum amount lawyers can receive for their services.

See how they like it.
