See, we have a problem. Did you see the sentiment of many on this thread? Younger generations have been imbued with the thought that it’s better to be dead than “endure” in such a state. Exactly what I was thinking. It seems that every time I have been in a tight spot in my life and started feeling sorry for myself, I run into someone who is much worse off than I am. I have come to see it as the Holy Spirit elbowing me to be grateful for all that I do have.

I'm a minor sort of ham, casual conversation type, but my husband is a die-hard DXer - he's at 335 right now, ARRL having belatedly allowed his Yemen contact. Needs N. Korea (the biggie), Kingman Reef, and Glorioso.

As my mom was dying earlier this year, she wasn't in a coma, but spent much of the time in a pretty deep sleep (pneumonia, congestive heart stuff).....the nurses - all of 'em - would remind us that she was probably "hearing" us as we'd discuss her condition.

It really did comfort us a bit as we were saying our farewells.
