Overall, the Register poll seems to be nothing but good news for Mike Huckabee. But that is not the case, because of Palin's numbers....

2 points you say? Hmmm...so that’s what that RINO horn is good for! Huck wins by a nose!

Huckabee p***** me off last night on Fox News. He was chuckling about his great friend Mary Landrieu, about how she bragged that it was 300 million (not 100 million), and claiming (Huckabee claiming) that “folks have to realize that this is how politics is done!”

Sure. We understand how horsetrading works—but this bill is the biggest shift to socialism this nation has witnessed in the past nearly 80 years. Do you think I’m going to support a presidential candidate who’s going to chuckle about it?

The problem is he didn’t have the numbers last year. I don’t think he’d have the numbers in 4 years.

He’s a spoiler. Plain and simple. Although I like his support of the FairTax and real tax change ... I really don’t believe he has a snowballs chance in hell of winning that national race. Maybe, maybe a senator from Arkansas (after being it’s governor) but nothing more.

Iowa proved it cannot be trusted to provide political direction anywhere. Jimmah Cahtah was their first big pick and we know how that turned out.

Great....... a poll about Iowa, over THREE YEARS before the next primary there.

Agree the Iowa Caucuses are a ways out something like Jan. 2012, two years and one month basically. But campaigning will begin sometime in early 2011 after the Nov. 2010 general. I suspect some politicians will be visiting during the campaign next year to get the face in the crowd and develope some name recognition. These early polls will help those candidates testing the waters to decide whether to get in or out of the early states. Politics is an never ending process it seems.

It is a joke to put Huckabee’s name in this poll unless the MSM wants to put a loser as the Pub nominee (which they do). Huckabee is a non-factor.

Yep, Iowa’s not a great barometer, but the other early state has become a disaster for Republican vetting—purple at best, within the Boston media market, and suspicious of candidates who seem to be religious believers.

Iowa should be Palin Country more readily than NH, and this is a good little poll given all the media bashing and all the declarations of her lack of political viability.

Trailing Huck and even Romney right now is a good spot for Sarah to be in. Let the Lamestream Media continue to spin for these two, I don’t care. I wouldn’t want to be the “front-runner” at this point. Remember what happened to front-runner Rudy Giuliani? He was the front-runner in the months leading up to Iowa.

As much as I like Palin, I don’t know whether she can win. Just being honest.

I think the Republicans need to break out of the Romney-Huckabee-Palin group or we may well snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Not exactly.

This was just a poll about favorability. 70% of IA Rep had favorable views of Huckabee, 68% of Palin. Given the margin of error they’re pretty much even.

But having a favorable view isn’t the same as voting. Before the caucus last yr both Huckabee and Romney had around 80% favorables, but Huckabee still won rather easily. McCain had pretty much the same favorables as OPbama last yr and it didn’t really help him all that much.

The interesting piece is that while Huckabee is still up there at 70%, Romney is apparently down to 58% favorable.

Sorry, can't go with you on this one. Even if what you say is true, I have decided after GW that I will never vote again for a born again or anyone who claims the mantle of holier than thou.

Nothing against born agains - I tip my hat to them for coming to Christ. But the political arena is not for them. IMO, they are too much into turning the other cheek that they let their opponents steamroll them and their policies. With the exception of lower taxes and the WOT, GW surrended on to many important issues as soon as he drew criticism.

And I see the Huckster - or Huck-a-phoney - to be less trustworthy. I watch his program and at certain times you can see the spitefullness come through. Ann Coulter verbally bitch-slapped him and he couldn't help but attack her.

We don't rebuild this party by voting for the same-old. As much as Mitt seems a nice guy, he had his chance. Leave. Same with Huck-a-phoney. Go. Leave. We need new blood on the rise - Palin, Liz Cheney, Bobby Jindal.

“Huckabee, is the Same Oh.. Same O... He is just like McCain, in Arkansas, he was the BIG SPENDER...ask anyone from Arkansas..His record is spend, spend, tax tax..just like George W..and his bent on spending. We need something NEW, different Wine Skin, different color, different watchword. Something from the outside..not something that grew up on the inside...”

Agree totally with you. The GOP, right or wrong, has an image problem. It’s the rich, white-haired, white-faced, old men’s country club party (with a RHINO as the official mascot). The party needs a fresh start with fresh faces with new and “radical” ideas like following the Constitution, cutting taxes and creating jobs. People like Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal are the faces of this “new” Republican “Tea” Party. To go back to 2008 retreads like Huck or Romney is to GUARANTEE a second term for Obama.

“The media will not pick our nominee this time. Huck is a good man, but not what we need. I wish he would just go away.”

I hope the media doesn’t pick our nominee but the Republican Party could do itself a favor by BANNING these crappy open primaries which allow independents and even Democrats for voting for our candidate. GOP primaries should be ONLY for GOP registered voters.

I am a Republican from Iowa and I tell you I do NOT support Huckabee.

I hope this is not the field. Pawlenty wasn't mentioned.

We don’t need another “good man” like Bush. We need a person who will fight for our country and Constitution. We need someone with core beliefs that cannot be bought. The only person out there who’se actually done it Sarah Palin.
All the other Pubbie jokers are part of the old guard that failed to see the commie train coming.

None of them deserve a second chance. And please spare me the Ron Paul gibberish. Personally I find myself uncomfortable with him and his acolytes.
