I don’t know why they’d have too much of a problem with it. The Israelis did have a joint exercise with Greece that enabled the Israelis to test their aircraft against the Greek (originally Cypriot) S-300s.

That said, I would expect the Russians to have made updates by now.

Looks like Bibi will have to move that timetable up a bit. I agree with you...the strait of Hormuz will be closed for at least a month or more and oil will shoot to 3 or 4 hundred a barrel. Gas will be $10 a gallon if it’s available at all.

Is this the same Russia that Obama tried to appease by stabbing our Polish and Czech allies in the back in order to get Russia to help us with our Iran problem?

The risk has been the same since 1979...

What is funny is that we’ve had it under control since the 80’s...

But some countries like Russia just love to see chaos, and potential conflict that would benefit their economy...

Like someone else said here...Those S-300 systems are targets...

It really is all about who will blink first over there...

The Israelis were testing any new countermeasures that they have probably developed(Suter Program)

This is what a typical S-300 missile site looks like. This is from a Chinese missile base

Really? If so, I’d be annoyed if I were the Greeks. If the Israelis were doing that, wouldn’t the Greeks be undermining their own equipment (although I guess they also have Patriots)?

yea, this sale has been pending for some time

lot of analyst and think-tank types believe this is a red line for the Israelis and that they would attack before the S-300 was operational as it would make the already difficult task at hand that much tougher

Lets have a frame of reference. This is the Greek Air Defense Network. I think that the Greeks may have let the Israelis because they are "allies" and the exercise more realistic.

I figured the Greeks would be kind of leery of helping out the Israelis too much, given the relatively (until recently) close ties the Israelis have with the Turks. I just wouldn’t see the trade off as being of significant benefit for the Greeks.

Relations are souring beween the Turks and the Israelis. The Israels may have new friends if Turkey continues its path of Radicalism.

Iraq had old antiquated Soviet systems that were 70’s vintage, with the Syrians having early 80’s vintage hardware and software.

If Greece has the S-300, than the US has got to have a demonstrator model (Greece is part of NATO).

Given that Russian-made planes in Iran crash every few months, who knows, the missiles may turn out to be like this:
