I am a physical scientist with a PhD from Brown University. My thesis was in quantum mechanical scattering theory. I spent a full career developing strategic weapons before being ordained an Anglican priest. I served several parishes in California and Colorado before moving to the Chesapeake shore. Last year, while serving as a Senior Fellow in the Woodstock Theological Center at Georgetown University, I had the privilege of moderating a theological symposium entitled God, Energy, and our Kinship with Nature, which was sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Hmmmm. Now, they pit them in tin sheds on asphalt in parking lots...no wonder the earth is warming...

Great letter. He makes some of the same critical statements that Michael Creighton made several years ago, only he makes them more forcefully.

Of course, he makes one mistake himself when suggesting a purely empirical analysis of the temperature data - he assumes that the UN hasn't constructed their "conclusion" before the evidence was gathered. This, of course, is nonsense. As far as they UN is concerned, the world is getting warmer and people are to blame - rich white people. Good science and scientific evaluation is just a cumbersome burden to their plans for social re-engineering.

Send the ACLU a Christmas card this year.. Make sure it says CHRISTMAS

There is an email going around and there will be tens of thousands (HOPEFULLY) dumped on their office this Christmas season.

They WILL open them because a lot of their mail is donations.

Take up their time and give them a massive headache

I just printed off an 8x10 MERRY CHRISTMAS Celebrate the Birthday of Our LORD JESUS and put it into a standard #10 business envelope so it wouldn't look like a card. I also used a security envelope so they couldn't see through and know there wasn't a check.

I suggest passing this great idea to EVERYONE in your email friends list... make this a CHRISTMAS the ACLU will never forget!

I only have one objection to what he says. I wouldn’t let the UN anywhere near the team that is assigned to resolve the issues.

I might point out that, when he was listing the issues concerning CO2 increase, he failed to include this: Is it harmful?

Good for you. Eugene Robinson is one of those guys I’d like to buy for what he’s worth and re-sale him for what he thinks he’s worth.

Wow. Except for the ordained Anglican part, this guy could be my cousin.

Except I turned down two Ivy League schools for my Ph.D. work.

Nonetheless, his article -- particularly the footnote #1 -- are EXCELLENT.

"See Does a Global Temperature Exist? This paper was in press in the Journal of Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics in June 2006. The authors Christopher Essex, Ross McKitrick and Bjarne Andresen show that there is no physically-based way to construct a meaningful global average temperature. Furthermore, a given data set could be interpreted as either “warming” or “cooling” depending on the kind of averaging method one might choose. "

I hadn't thought of that; I was going to buy some "Merry Christmas" cards.

But making my own is better.
I can include a section on the 8-1/2 by 11 sheet to "look" like a check, using a regular, non-security envelope.

All that remains is to decide what the phony check should look like, and who it should be signed by.
I am leaning toward a 15% contribution on all "my income", as a tithe, to the "Church of the Holy Warming," and signed by Al Gore...
