“Tibet is close to twice the size of Texas.”

Yeah, but I bet they have lousy BBQ.

But fewer Mexicans.

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

“China”, ie, the Chinese communists,

“care” about Tibet for precisely the same reason that “American” liberals wouldn’t stand for any state to secede -

they can’t stomach the idea that someone might be living outside of their control.

seriously... WHY does China care so much about Tibet? I there some natural resource their or something?

Good question. But for me, before I can even begin to investigate that question, I need to know why the bumper stickers that says "India out of Kashmir", doesn't take on the same political significance as the Tibet issue? Or invoke the attention of pop culture as the Tibet issue.

I probably wouldn't mind too much, however, my own personal observation is, that some of the strongest Free Tibet proponents also aren't exactly the people who would embrace Nelson Mandela or give him any significance. Just an observation .....

‘India is concerned that China has resolved its border disputes with its other neighbours but not with it.’

Yep; they really worked things out with the Tibetans, didn’t they...?

But can the metals be extracted at high altitudes? The miners would have to wear oxygen masks, and the Chinese miners would inevitably die from hypoxia (from prolonged lack of oxygen).
