this should elect more democrats

divide and conquer is the only way they can win

Right now, the Blue Dog Democrats are doing the job the Republicans can't. They are the ones giving Obama acid reflux.

A unity of the Blue Dogs and the Tea Party could more closely resemble the Reagan coalition than anything we've seen since GHWB ran.

Democrats attracting 36% of the vote. The Tea Party candidate picks up 23%, and Republicans finish third at 18%.

And...Rahm and Axelrod and Carville and Obama and Wright and etc etc positively jubilant.

"49% of Democrats have no opinion on the Tea Party movement one way or another.

.................goodness. They really are brain-dead.
"

Possibly but more likely they have never heard of the Tea Party. Generally speaking if something isn't chewed up and digested for them then spoon fed to them by the state run media most demoncraps don't know it (whatever "it" is) exists.

"However, the poll also shows that splitting off as a third party puts democrats in power."

I take this as the GOP is now the "third party" and needs to disband and choose sides as to which of the two parties they will identify with.

Rush was wailing about this 3rd party movement and saying what a mistake it was. He was almost pleading for conservatives to not abandon the GOP. I have no qualms about abandoning the GOP, I will not throw a half hearted vote for a McCain, I will vote my principles results be damned.

Don’t get fooled by the Blue Dogs. Inside every one of them (my rep. is one) is a Yellow RAT yearning to get out.

So, if I were Obama, or Stalin or Chavez, exactly what better position would I like to be in than a totally fractured and divided opposition?

I agree. It's time for all Conservatives to dump the Party they are in and join the Tea Party. Then maybe we won't be so divided and we can run these communists out on a rail after tarring and feathering them.

How does answering a poll cause any damage?

If the GOP got a larger percentage and the Tea Party got a miniscule percentage in this poll,

what incentive would the GOP have to change?

The so-called "Blue Dogs" are a joke.

They are nothing less or more than just slightly less Democrats.

No conservative should be pushing for any type of coalition with this gang of liberals, and yes, they are nothing more than liberals.

Our approach should be one of replacing the Blue Dogs with actual conservatives, NOT joining forces with them.

This is good news or bad news, depending on how obtuse the GOP “leadership” decides to be.

It’s good news if the leadership decides to get with the program, since it unites the 23% and the 18%, and will attract a lion’s share of the 22% undecided.

It’s bad news if the leadership continues to play footsie with the Dems and try to run RINOs, against all common sense and against all political indicators. If that happens, then the Tea Parties simply split the vote and give the Dems Congress for another term.

The conservatives have to take over the GOP, not abandon it or wait for them to change their stripes.

It sickens me that the GOP is going to (or has back)-ed Carly Fiorina here in CA -- I heard some mention of her being acceptable with her immoral liberal views because of where she is from (Pelosi's and Boxer's area).

They have no concept of the size of this state, for one thing.

They (the GOP) are AGAIN neglecting OUR CHOICE of the tea parties, Chuck Devore... military man, man of his word and honorable -- an accomplished "politician" and a real CONSERVATIVE (some dichotomy there, but there shouldn't be).

He has something like 20,000 miles under his belt in talking at Tea Parties, large and small and he SHOULD be the ONE with the GOP.

WE WANT HIM, LISTEN TO US!!!

PLease, please, please, --- when you refuse to donate from the incessant requests through GOP solicitation calls -- tell them about their betrayal once again ... IF you do not know about Chuck go to his website (ChuckDevore.com) and read about Chuck, and believe me, he is for real.

Tell the beggars on the phone that he is a super example of our insinificance with them and they cannot ignore us this time!!!!

That poll is meaningless without listing “socialist party” as one of the options.

With a “socialist party” option, the Democrat support would fall to the teens, as most people who vote democrats are truly socialists.

Rush is right. You will gain nothing from a 3rd party except more consolidated Democrat control of all three branches of the Federal Government and state government as well.

Is that really what you want?

good point. For example, 3rd party candidates are rarely a good idea, even if GOP candidate is a RINO. Only exception would be something like Dede in NY-23 (ACORN/union/planned parenthood supported fringe leftie).

Tea Parties should try to work within GOP and influence who are GOP candidates and what policies are adopted.

Our county GOP sponsors tea parties...

So does mine. The problem is not the GOP, per se. The problem is the RINO idiots that have been allowed to rise to their level of incompetence and political tone-deafness within the organisation, in part because conservatives decided that they'd rather throw themselves a pity party than get involved across the board. Victory takes work - something a lot of conservatives don't seem to understand.
