Interesting. Those numbers mean that the Tea Parties are drawing a lot of Indies and Democrats, something the moderate R’s have never really figured out how to do. It’s a hard coalition to keep together because the moderate R’s have a certain cultural contempt for their lessers in the conservative wing of the party.

I couldn’t care less what we call it as long as we all hang together to defeat Dimocrats. If we want to call it the Tea Party, that’s fine with me. This is proof that in order to defeat Democrats, we MUST hang together because there are not enough that want to call themselves the Tea Party to defeat Dimocrats and there are not enough who want to call themselves Republicans. I simply do not care. I want to defeat Dimocrats.

“Add GOP + Tea Party and there is a significant majority.”

Don’t forget Libertarians, they despise bailouts, Obamacare and Obamanomics as much as the GOP and Tea Parties do.

The important thing here is that the GOP needs to
realize that with a RINOectomy, they are the Tea Party.

Please make sure they KNOW that!

Time to stand for something rather than falling for everything.

Wake up, GOP.

The logical follow-up query, then, becomes: "... and whose fault is that, ultimately?

Do you do this when your dog craps on the carpet? Argue with the wife about whose fault it is?

It's what untrained dogs do. It's what politicians do. Dogs crap, Politicians pander.

The question is are we going to teach the dog a lesson by sitting down on the couch in disgust and leaving the dog crap on the floor?

We either actively clean up the mess or we lose. It doesn't matter who stank up the place.

To continue the analogy, where has the house training been form us for the RINOs? When did the "Tea Partiers" become active? It's not like RINOs are a new phenom....are they?

this should elect more democrats

divide and conquer is the only way they can win

Let this be a lesson to EVERYONE that we all need each other or we can surrender right now to the bunch that is controlling us in DC. They have permanent control. The rest of us are toast.

They DESERVE every bit of this. When anyone in either party decides to follow the original meaning of Article 1. Section 8 of the US Constitution, then I'll reconsider them. Until then, the games they play with the General Welfare, Commerce and Necessary & Proper Clauses will continue to suffer the wrath of those of us who truly do believe in Jefferson's vision of a LIMITED GOVERNMENT acting within the bounds of the Enumerated Powers.

“Look at the Dems — they have MoveOn.org, ACORN, the Kos kids, etc, etc, who are intensely focused on making hard-line Leftists be the Dem candidates, and making sure that the DNC knows that their funding and activism support is dependent on keeping these groups happy.”

I show it to mean that a conservative takeover of the GOP is potentially already underway.

That's exactly what I would like to see happen.

Let's face it, third partyism doesn't work. It almost worked in NY-23 - but only because the majority of Republicans in the district voted for the third-party guy because the GOPer was such an out-of-step whackjob.

On the other hand, simply running "Tea Party" candidates against any and every Republican, just because they're a Republican, even if the Republican is reasonably conservative, is simply going to allow the Dems to keep the Congress. Tea Partiers need to figure it out, and choose their battles carefully. Fight the RINOs, don't fight the entire GOP - because the entire GOP is not your enemy.

Unfortunately, I fear that a lot of the hardcore Tea Partiers are so hopped up on emotion and self-righteousness that they can't, or won't, distinguish between a Dede Scozzafava-type Republican and a Jim DeMint-type Republican.

The answer is to work within the GOP vehicle that already exists, take it back for conservatives, and ride it to victory. That's what Reagan did. If Reagan had gone third party, history would look back on him merely as a footnote, and most people would ask, "Ronald who?"

Except the Tea Party isn’t really a party but a collection of frustrated people. The only principles I think they could agree on at this pint is that they favor “small” government and revere the founders. Good principles, no doubt but the devil hides in the details about how to get there. So at this point I’d say the Tea Party is just more “hope and change” hype. Beyond that, I’m not sure there is any position on the social issues that Tea Party members would agree on. And then there’s the issue of national security. Do tea party members agree on a strong national defense or a more libertarian “it’s not my job” national defense? Lots of issues beyond just “small” Gov and RINO killing which would quickly put the tea party in the same hall of fame as the Ross Perot’s (or was it Buchannan’s or Nadar’s) deformed party?

You think about it. Do you want to be controlled by these tyrants in DC forever? We had better get our crap together or that is exactly what will happen.

I would think the Blue Dog Dems align more with the RINO GOP remnants.

So a complete realignment would put the far left in charge of a 20% Democrat party, the 23% Tea Party, and the Blue Dogs, RINO’s and undecideds somewhere in the middle.

Although the other poll showing 40% conservative identity should be good news for us, depending on how things shake out.

> Don’t get fooled by the Blue Dogs. Inside every one of them (my rep. is one) is a Yellow RAT yearning to get out.

Ditto that. They’re “whatever it takes to get elected” Dims, just as devious and devoid of principle as RINOs. There’s no opinion they won’t change for the right deal or a chance at power.

I kind of prefer a Dim who is forthrightly lefto liberal, like Grayson. He’s a loony and wrong, but he’s steadfast and you know what he stands for.
