My 8 year old son needs your prayers. Please pray for him

Posted on 12/10/2009 7:06:01 AM PST by Scythian

My son's name is Benjamin, he has run a fever for 7 days, my wife just called, they did a chest x-ray, he has a touch of pnumeonia they said, they gave him amoxicillian. I have had a very bad feeling about this ever since he got sick, he is 8 years old and just the greatest little boy.

Please lift him up to the Lord, I am just worried terribly now.

Thank you

- Scythian

Hey, Kiddo, how’s our boy doing? I got up at 4:30 a.m. to make sure I had time to squeak my wheel on his behalf.

My wife just took his temp, 99.9, it’s not been 48 hours on the medicine yet, we are to call thier emergency line tomorrow if his fever is not gone by tomorrow and they are going to switch meds. Thank you for your concern, I’m worried to death honestly, people keep telling me he’ll be okay and I just have to believe he will be, I so want this to be behind us. I wish we could all take off and go to Florida in the sun, I’m sure that would help immensly. Very depressed right now.

Sweet child, let not your heart be troubled. 99.9 is nothing for an 8 year old. If he spikes, grab some frozen vegetables out of the freezer, wrap them in dishtowels and put them under his arms. Luke warm baths and a warm robe. Fevers will ebb and flow. They usually break around 4 a.m., which is why I got up then to pray. They'll spike at night.

I went through the same thing when my son was 11. He hit 102 and I was frantic. Fortunately, my mother was there and she kept me from bouncing off the wall. It's awful. Your son will be well and strong soon.

He'll probably be better than before and do something he never did before. That was always the case with my son. Boy, was he a lousy patient. Crabby as all get-out. Mad that he was sick. The only thing a high fever will do is make them sleep (which is a blessing in disguise for a Crabby Appleton like I had). He's now a strapping U.S. Marine 1st Lt. He dwarfs me and is still ornery when he gets sick. ;-)

I had pneumonia the first time in my life this year, not a bad case, but it was still horrible enough. It wipes you out for many months after you recover. I’m surprised they are giving that weak of an antibiotic, but then again I’m in my 30’s so I got strong stuff.

Prayers that his recovery continues and that he (and you!) are resting better now. You are not alone!

If it’s pneumonia he might need more than amoxicillin...

I worry because we had a lot of “MRSA” staph pneumonia after the 1990 influenza epidemic...if his fever is high and doesn’t break, or if he is breathing over 30 times a minute get him checked...and make sure they check his blood oxygen level...it needs to be over 90.
