"The Mrs probably had a hard time getting past the whole “soul mate” thing."

Yep. It's compounded by the fact that he said it during a live press conference, telecast throughout the country - probably two countries. No woman, rightfully, would look past that.

What kind of difference?

Money is not an issue in either case, but bad influence is. It doesn’t matter whether a child is two or twenty, neither benefits from a philandering father and a doormat mother.

I’m sure she tried in the best interest of the boys. She’ll survive—I think all of their money was hers so hopefully she’ll keep it all.

I think she has handled herself perfectly through this. I loved it when this all first exploded and asked where he was she said “I have no idea...ask his aides”

Classic.

The timing suggest she waiting for the impeachment hearing to be over. A generous gesture to a whoring husband.

Sanford always made a big to-do about not living off Jenny's money. Haw haw...he may end up penniless, alone, disgraced and despised, and with no prestigious job.

How does he expect to earn a living after 2010?

Jenny was supposed to be the brains of the pair. Maybe she should run for office!

How old are their kids as opposed to Tiger’s kids? Makes a difference.

The younger the kids are it is OK to keep a dirtbag spouse around.?

My only point was that young children are a reason to try to mend a bad marriage. With grown kids, the onus is more on the parents to ask if they want to save their union for their own sake.

I can understand if Elin thought of her young kids when asking herself if she wanted to try to heal.

Personally, I think it's a lost cause.

Having come from a split home myself, I always think that divorce is sad and unnecessary. Not every marriage is going to be perfect, or easy, but Christians should work at it as best they can.

Repentance and forgiveness should always be possible.

In this case, it looks as if Mark Sanford just hasn’t been able to do that—make the effort, give up the affair(s), and make a new start. That’s too bad, because we’re supposed to marry for better or for worse . . . till death do us part.

As I understand it, both of them are Christian Evangelicals. I don’t know whose fault it is that they couldn’t start over. Certainly it was his fault that he acted like such a blithering idiot. I don’t know if he’s unable to repent or she’s unable to forgive him. But I still think it’s too bad they couldn’t try harder to work it out.

as I think I had told you, taking the family to China, Tibet, Nepal, India, Thailand and then back through Hong Kong on world wind tour.

LOL, is that verbatim? "World wind tour"?
