Yep we were surprised also everytime we go. Nice doing business with people who really enjoy their jobs. Same goes for the tax office and license”s its a breeze. Welcome to Florida.Been here for 28 years dont miss the rotten apple one bit.
There are several DMV offices here in Houston. Last time I went, the line to “check in” and sit down and wait was at least 80 people long, with 60 or so already seated. The Houston DMV people are surly, rude and demand exact change - no checks, no debit cards, etc.
I went to one of Texas’ lovely small towns where it was done in a community center every other Thursday. There were 2 people in line, and I was second. The lady handling the work on her portable equipment was pleasant, polite, fast and MADE CHANGE !
Well worth a quiet 70 minute drive. But we may not be so lucky with medical care.
Ken, Now I know why I haven’t seen any “Chappaqua Reports” on the former first family lately. Welcome to Florida. As a former New Yorker, we’ve been here in Florida since 1988 and would never go back to the land of taxes. We’re glad you’re here, especially in the Tampa Bay area.
“...even in a busy Los Angeles office, I was in and out in 10-15 minutes.”
I don’t know what office you went to but that certainly is a rare occurrence. It’s a nightmare for most people I know.
As is the case whenever one must deal with the civil servant drones in this state.
I’m certainly no big fan of the DMV, but as far as perfectly routine stuff, they are pretty fast. Now...if you’ve dragged a dead car out of a field & restored it and it hasn’t been registered for 11 years....or if you’ve paid it off and the lender can’t find your pink slip and you need to get a substitute...or if you go to the DMV in the most “culturally diverse” area of LA with a problem you can only ‘splain in English, then it’s probably not so lightning quick.
