I guess the giant pandas will eat other "stuff" when available....and it sounds like they think bamboo is lobster and everything else is .....

Seems to be several reasons for this critter going extinct and man has little and/or nothing to do with it.

Maybe their mistake was taking up bamboo as the staple...and not the other way around.

These “reporters” should either laugh in the face of the originators of this crap, or start spending a lot more time investigating and reporting on UFO’s!

Giant pandas. They eat only bamboo.

Not true, apparently. The Adelaide Zoo here in Australia has recently been loaned a couple of giant pandas and because of this they've been on the news a lot. They've shown them eating carrots and apples to my surprise because I believed the 'only eat bamboo' bit too.

Koalas will also eat things other than eucalyptus leaves, but only if there's no choice - eucalyptus leaves seem to be Koala crack.

I would guess that no animal will starve itself deliberately. BUT, will they emulate those who raise them that they will not venture to change their behavior...which could lead to starvation and extinction.

I remember seeing a photo of koala drinking out of a someone’s water bottle.

To the best of my knowledge and recollection, koalas do not drink at all, and perhaps are anatomically incapable of doing so. They obtain all the moisture needed for their metabolism and survival from young eucalyptus leaves.

Wow...Just thinking about making chocolate fudge...that real old fashioned Hershey one...the dark unsweetened in the can kind...butter and sugar and chocolate and milk.

Much better now that the kids are grown...no sharing...heh, heh!!

“How did these species survive the Medieval Warm Period during which time Greenland was warm enough to support agriculture and herding on its coasts?”

The answer to the alarmists is contained in that one statement.

Between 900 and 1100 the "average" global temperature was as “warm” as the alarmists are predicting will happen in our future.

In the records of that era, where is the evidence of massive global catastrophes they are now predicting? There is no such evidence. Why? Two reasons. The earth and its climate are more dynamic than the zero-sum game played by the politically motivated climate modelers and life on earth is more resilient and adaptive than the modelers give it credit for.
